A new mystery drama, A Remarkable Place To Die debuts on Channel 9 this November.
A fresh wave of suspense, mystery, and family drama comes to Channel 9 this month with the premiere of A Remarkable Place To Die, set to air on Sunday, November 17, at 8.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
The series, which runs over four consecutive weeks, stars Rebecca Gibney—well-known for her roles in Halifax: Retribution and Packed to the Rafters—alongside acclaimed actress Chelsie Preston Crayford of Underbelly: Razor and the recent horror success, M3GAN.
The storyline centres on Anaís Mallory, a driven homicide detective portrayed by Preston Crayford, as she returns to her roots in Queenstown, New Zealand, to investigate the deaths of her father and sister. Gibney plays Mallory’s mother, adding further emotional complexity to the unfolding family drama.
Joining them is a talented ensemble cast including Michala Banas (McLeod’s Daughters, Winners & Losers), Roy Billing (Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities, Jack Irish), Indiana Evans (Home and Away, H2O: Just Add Water), Alex Tarrant (NCIS: Hawaii, 800 Words), Charles Jazz Terrier (Wentworth, Neighbours), and Nathalie Boltt (Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina). Together, they bring to life a story where scenic Queenstown provides a deceptive backdrop to a series of unsolved crimes and dark secrets.
A Remarkable Place To Die follows Anaís Mallory as she returns from a successful police career in Sydney to take up the lead detective role in her hometown.
There, she confronts unresolved family tensions and is haunted by suspicions around her former fiancé, Luke (played by Jazz Terrier), who has since married her former best friend, Maja (portrayed by Evans). Each episode delves into a new case, intensifying the eerie atmosphere as Mallory uncovers hidden truths about her family’s tragic past.
As the local body count rises, Mallory and her team find themselves grappling with a complex web of deceit and danger. Old wounds resurface as Mallory’s investigation suggests her ex-fiancé might be entangled in her family’s misfortunes, with troubling questions arising about her mother’s knowledge of past events.
A Remarkable Place To Die represents an original production effort from the 9Network, in collaboration with ZDF, Acorn, and TVNZ. Produced by Screentime New Zealand and co-produced with Real Film Berlin in association with Banijay Rights, the series marks a compelling addition to the network’s drama lineup.
