NINE PERFECT STRANGERS, MODERN LOVE season two, and more, coming to Amazon Prime Video in August

This August on Amazon Prime video highlights include the highly anticipated drama Nine Perfect Strangers, which was filmed in Australia and features stellar performances from Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy and Asher Keddie. The acclaimed anthology series Modern Love returns for a second season with an all-star cast, and Jessica Biel produces the slick thriller, Cruel Summer.

From best-selling author Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies) based on a novel by the same name, Nine Perfect Strangers takes place at a retreat at health and wellness resort Tranquillum House which promises total transformation.

In this eight-part limited series, nine stressed city dwellers with vastly different backgrounds from romance novelist Francis, former NFL star Tony, journalist Lars, high school teacher Napoleon and Instagram influencer Jessica are keen to drop their literal and mental baggage. Their issues are very different, but Masha Dmitrichenko, the resort director (played by Nicole Kidman), is convinced that her unconventional interventions – the details of which the guests are largely unaware – will successfully cure them.

Cruel Summer is an unconventional series that takes place over three summers in the 90s when a beautiful and popular teen goes missing, and a seemingly unrelated girl transforms from a sweet and awkward outlier to the most popular girl in town, eventually becoming the most despised person in America. Each episode is told from alternating POVs.

The 10-part highly anticipated premium psychological thriller is from executive producers Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple (The Sinner), with creator and executive producer Bert V. Royal (Easy A) as well as showrunner and executive producer Tia Napolitano (Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19).

Kevin Can F**K Himself follows the story of Allison McRoberts (played by Emmy Award-winning actress Annie Murphy),a woman we all grew up believing we knew: the prototypical Sitcom Wife. She’s beautiful and can take a joke even if it is directed at her, and she’s married to a guy who must have won a marriage lottery. We follow her as she finally wakes up to and revolts against the injustices in her life. Kevin Can F**K Himself breaks convention and blends multi-camera comedy with single-camera realism to make us ask, who and what have we been laughing at all of these years?

Kevin Can F**k Himself also stars Mary Hollis Inboden as Patty O’Connor, Allison’s tough, glass-half-empty neighbor who hides an intelligence and dissatisfaction that bonds her to Allison; Eric Petersen as the protagonist husband Kevin McRoberts, Allison’s husky and “lovable” man-child; Alex Bonifer as Neil O’Connor, the football-loving, beer-swilling, dim-bulb best friend of Kevin; Brian Howe as Pete McRoberts, Kevin’s father with a regressive sense of humor; and Raymond Lee as Sam Park, a clean cut, former Worcesterite who has history with Allison.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon A Time

EVANGELION:3.0+1.01 THRICE UPON A TIME is the fourth and final chapter of the new theatrical edition of Evangelion.

The blockbuster franchise is a Japanese anime pop culture phenomenon based on the story of Evangelion, an artificial human and multipurpose humanoid weapon, and the Angels, an unknown life-form which takes place after the Earth has been shattered by a cataclysmic event. The film features all original voice actors including Megumi HayashibaraMegumi OgataYûko Miyamura and uses the latest imaging technology to showcase the personalities and relationships of its unique characters as they fight for survival.

It will be dubbed in 10 languages including English, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian, and offer subtitles in 28 languages.
