DCI Vera Stanhope investigates the case of murdered entrepreneur Freddie Gill, whose body is found by bailiffs attempting to repossess his house.
As she delves into the case, she soon comes to understand that Freddie’s professional life is just as turbulent as his family life, and Vera must uncover whether the motive behind Freddie’s death comes from the trouble at the heart of his family, a desperate financial crisis, or his glances with organised crime.
