It’s a week full of powerhouse talent on Foxtel, so get onboard!
Whether it’s those superpowered pals on Avengers: Endgame, now officially the highest grossing film ever; some homegrown boxing talent including Tim Tszyu and Tayla Harris ready for some knock-out bouts on MAIN EVENT, or Australia’s rugby union stars of the Wallabies and the Wallaroos taking on their Kiwi counterparts for their second round of match-ups.
When it comes to being one of television’s most popular series, the TV WEEK Logie Award-winning Gogglebox Australia never fails to entertain us, and it’s back for an incredible 10th season! We can’t wait to watch our favourite families and friends critique what’s on the box.
There’s also the latest instalment in one of Disney Channel’s biggest franchises – that’s right, the much-awaited Decendants 3 is here to let us know what happens next, and fans will be over the moon!
When you think of huge talent, you can’t go past Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, whose muscles are massive in their own right! The megastar is ready to helm The Titan Games that will pit participants against each other in some incredible endurance challenges.
There’s also the returning season of Succession, starring Australia’s Sarah Snook, the drama following the machinations that take place within a powerful family, and also the film The Girl in the Spider’s Web, which centres on fierce heroine Lisbeth Salander, played here by Claire Foy. She’s definitely not someone you want to mess with.
Meanwhile, the Toyota AFL Premiership and NRL Telstra Premiership tournaments are heating up, each game becoming more and more intense. The finals are nearly in sight, so everyone’s giving all they’ve got.

Holly Hunter joins the cast of this unmissable family dynasty saga in its sophomore outing – which picks back up in the wake of last season’s deadly finale – as a politically savvy rival media conglomerate CEO is set to be a thorn in the side of the dysfunctional Roys.
LEGO® City Adventures – Nickelodeon, 4.30pm
Get swept up in all the fun and crazy antics of the residents of bustling LEGO City in this new 10-episode CG-animated comedy series, sure to appeal to kids and the young at heart. In this premiere, when a promotional stunt goes wrong, a huge Cubby the Cop balloon is released, causing havoc!
Active Measures – HISTORY, 8.30pm
This eye-opening documentary by filmmaker Jack Bryan addresses for the first time mounting speculation linking Donald Trump’s 2016 American presidential campaign to Russian president Vladimir Putin, exposing an alleged 30-year history of covert political warfare.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is behind this Spartan-esque competition, based on his own gruelling workouts, in which contestants put their physical strength and mental determination to the ultimate test, battling it out in a series of brutal challenges to be named a Titan.
Uncle Jack: The Manhattan Project and Beyond – HISTORY, 9.30pm
During WWII the United States government enlisted hundreds of brilliant physicists, mathematicians and engineers to The Manhattan Project, to design, build and test the world’s first atomic weapon. Featuring interviews with veterans and historians, writer and director Tim Gray, talks about those who played a pivotal role – including his uncle, John ‘Jack’ Edmund Gray.
Expedition Unknown, s2 – Discovery Science, 7.30pm
The second season of this fascinating docuseries finds adventurer Josh Gates journeying through England, Wales and Scotland in search of evidence of a real King Arthur. But a close call while rappelling in the underground caves of Wales threatens to derail his expedition.
Nobody’s Fool – Premiere Movies, 8.30pm
Upon her release from prison, Tanya (Tiffany Haddish) goes to stay with her uptight, successful sister, Danica (Tika Sumpter). When Danica’s online ‘boyfriend’ turns out to be catfishing her, Tanya sets out to loosen her up – introducing her to the wonderful world of dating in truly hilarious style.
Shifting Gears with Aaron Kaufman – Discovery Turbo, 9.30pm
Former Fast N’ Loud favourite, car designer Aaron Kaufman, returns to TV working with his team out of his new Dallas shop, Arclight. Cameras follow as he attempts to build and race a rally car – a task fraught with challenges and unexpected dangers.

Avengers: Endgame – Store
The latest instalment from the Marvel universe is a must-see for the cast alone. With Josh Brolin’s Thanos holding the world ransom with his six Infinity Stones, pitted against him are the Avengers, including Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Captain Marvel (Brie Larsen) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Full of action and stunning special effects, this is an unmissable experience.
Gogglebox Australia, s10 – Lifestyle, 7.30pm
Following on from its win as Most Popular Entertainment Program at this year’s TV WEEK Logie Awards, Gogglebox Australia returns for its milestone 10th season! What will our favourite couch critics make of the latest TV series everyone’s talking about? Their hilarious observations always have us in stitches, so we can’t wait to find out.
Boxing: Tim Tszyu vs Dwight Ritchie – MAIN EVENT, LIVE 7pm
Nothing beats an all-Aussie boxing card and tonight there are two unmissable bouts. Tim Tszyu, son of Russian-born Australian former lightweight champ Kostya, is forging his own path on the boxing circuit and takes on Dwight Ritchie. And on the undercard is AFLW Carlton star Tayla Harris fighting Renee Gartner, former sports media personality and amateur boxing star. Harris, 22, enters the ring undefeated with five fights under her belt and is raring to go. See who’ll take victory.
Grand Designs: The Street – Lifestyle, 9.30pm
An impressive five years in the making, this six-part series looks at what happens when 10 households get to create their own enclave from scratch! Taking a location not far from London, they’ll undertake the UK’s largest self-build project – while Kevin McCloud oversees the entire process. How will it all come together and what will the finished result look like?
Curfew – FOX8, 8.30pm
This action-fuelled dystopian drama takes place in a society which goes into lockdown when day becomes night. The only way to escape? Take part in an illegal street race. Sound dangerous? You’d be right, but fear makes people do extreme things. Action-packed, scary and a truly wild ride, Curfew will make you sit up and take notice!
Ex on the Beach USA, s3 – MTV, 9.30pm
A fan favourite returns to MTV. When 10 gorgeous celebrity singles head to an island getaway, they’re ready for the good times to begin. However, their paradise quickly turns into a nightmare when some of their former flames turn up and everyone wonders whose ex will be next. Will old passions reignite or is romance gone for good? Watch all the action over 15 explosive episodes.

The third out of seven events in the 2019 FINA Swimming World Cup calendar kicks off in Singapore today, with world-class swimmers giving their all over three exhilarating days. With a total prize pool of US$2.5 million up for grabs over the course of this competition, there’s plenty at stake.
Bering Sea Gold, s8 – Discovery Channel, 9.30pm
Gold makes the world go round, and that’s certainly the case in the small town of Nome, Alaska. Every summer, as the glacial ice melts, dredging crews ready themselves for another period of mining the ocean floor in the frigid waters of the Bering Sea. What will our determined characters discover this season? Making millions never comes easy for our undersea miners.
Kate Plus Date – TLC, 7.30pm
Remember Kate Gosselin from the 2007 series Jon & Kate Plus 8? Well things have moved on for the now-single mother of eight, but with the sextuplets grown she’s now looking for love with the help of some matchmakers and her twin daughters. Follow her journey of meeting 10 bachelors and see who’ll she pick for a second date.
The Queen’s Green Planet – Lifestyle, 8.30pm
Get a rare glimpse of an informal Queen Elizabeth II as she chats with her friend Sir David Attenborough in the gardens of Buckingham Palace. The monarch discusses her Commonwealth Canopy initiative of protecting forests in 53 Commonwealth countries – and which involves the help of her family, including grandsons Princes William and Harry. It’s the first of a series of regal specials airing over the next four Thursdays on Lifestyle.
Geordie OGs – MTV, 6am ENCORE 9.30pm
It was eight years ago that some hot young residents of Newcastle in the UK got the fly-on-the-wall treatment when they moved in together to take part of a new series called Geordie Shore. And the rest is history! Now four of the original crew are back for a new show. Have things such as parenthood changed them? One thing’s the same: they still tell it like it is!
Friday, August 16
Descendants 3 – Disney Channel, 5.30pm
Disney’s hugely successful Descendants film franchise returns tonight with its third instalment. And if you thought the ante couldn’t possibly be upped, think again! Dove Cameron is back as butt-kicking Mal, while American Horror Story regular Cheyenne Jackson joins the cast, stirring up trouble as villain Hades.
NRL Telstra Premiership – FOX LEAGUE, LIVE from 5.30pm
Two games deliver some Round 22 action this evening – starting with a Titans and Eels clash. The Gold Coast team will be the underdogs against the Parramatta Eels, but never underestimate some late-season urgency! Following this, the Broncos host the Panthers with both teams vying to keep their top-eight chances alive. Another massive game this weekend is Saturday’s Storm vs Raiders clash at 5pm. Both teams are riding high – and they’ll want to keep it that way!
Golf: BMW Championship – FOX SPORTS 503, LIVE from 5am
The FedEx Cup Playoffs continue this weekend with the BMW Championship in Medinah, Illinois, before the final event next weekend where the FedEx Cup winner will be crowned. Defending champion Keegan Bradley and former winner Justin Rose will be among the contenders with both looking for that elusive second BMW Championship to add to their CV.
NFL Preseason – ESPN, LIVE 10am
Arizona Cardinals fans get their first glimpse of number-one draft pick Kyler Murray when the team hosts the Oakland Raiders as the NFL preseason gets underway. The rookie quarterback’s accurate passing ability is a force to be reckoned with, however Raiders coach Jon Gruden is looking for better results in 2019 with the side having added some major weapons.
Conviction – FOX SHOWCASE, 7.30pm
This addictive American legal drama series follows lawyer and former first daughter Hayes Morrison (Hayley Atwell from Avengers: Endgame) who accepts a position from NY District Attorney, Conner Wallace (Eddie Cahill, Friends) with his Conviction Integrity Unit in order to avoid some drug charges. With the rest of Wallace’s team, Hayes will help right some wrongs.
Saturday, August 17
Black Ferns vs Wallaroos – FOX SPORTS 505, LIVE 2.30pm
The Wallaroos face the Black Ferns in their final match that will determine who takes home the Laurie O’Reilly Memorial Trophy. The formidable New Zealand side may have secured victory with the Women’s Rugby Super Series trophy earlier this year, however the Wallaroos have demonstrated incredible resilience and will be hoping for a victory here.
Bledisloe Cup: New Zealand vs Australia – FOX SPORTS 505, LIVE 5PM
Tonight’s decider of the Bledisloe Cup is set to be a thriller. New Zealand hold the advantage in total Bledisloe titles with 47 to Australia’s 12, and coach Steve Hansen is keen to take home the cup for the 17th straight year. Hopefully the return of Nic White, Christian Lealiifano and James Slipper to the Wallabies can up the ante on their accuracy and secure a long-awaited victory. Do not miss.
The Girl in the Spider’s Web – Premiere Movies, 8.30pm
“The girl who hurts men who hurt women” returns – only she looks a little different. It’s Claire Foy’s turn to step into the role of the vigilante hacker that you don’t ever want to cross, Lisbeth Salander, who finds herself in the line of fire after failing to deliver a program to access nuclear codes that she was hired to retrieve.
The Curse of the Weeping Woman – Store
Your latest Friday-night fright flick is sorted! Turn the lights off and huddle under a blanket to watch as Anna, played by Linda Cardellini (Green Book), along with her two children, is drawn into a terrifying realm and stalked by La Llorona (Marisol Ramirez) – a ghostly weeping woman from an old Mexican folktale. Can this ghoul be stopped before it’s too late?
Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2019 – Discovery Turbo, 8.30pm
It’s time again to head to the massive collector car auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. Fans will be thrilled to immerse themselves once more in the ongoing drama as prospective bidders size up some of the incredible cars on offer. Everyone from top athletes to those who can only hope to afford these sorts of vehicles are here to be part of the revved-up real-life drama.

Toyota AFL Premiership – FOX FOOTY, LIVE from 1pm
With only one Round left after this, all teams are going gung-ho! The tension is sure to be through the roof when Richmond confronts West Coast this afternoon – both teams have a top-four finish in their sights. Catch this game live in 4K Ultra HD on Foxtel 4K. Over on FOX SPORTS 503, the Giants take on the Western Bulldogs at 3pm. The Dogs have had a very mixed year and GWS will be looking to consolidate their place in the top eight. It’s hard to beat AFL at this stage in the season when every point counts!

Miranda Tapsell co-wrote and stars in this comedy about a couple – Lauren (Tapsell) and Ned (Bohemian Rhapsody’s Gwilym Lee) – who decide to get hitched, except there’s one problem, Lauren’s mum Daffy (Ursula Yovich) has taken off and Lauren can’t imagine her big day without her, so they’re off to find her. A charming Aussie comedy directed by The Sapphires’ Wayne Blair that’s the perfect way to end your weekend.
UFC 241: Cormier vs Miocic 2 – ESPN, LIVE 10am and MAIN EVENT, 12pm
In July last year, Americans Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic faced off for the heavyweight title in one of the most anticipated bouts in UFC history. When Cormier knocked out the reigning champ in the first round, it caused shockwaves. Today, the two go around again, with the heavyweight belt on the line once more. A main event in every sense of the word.

In this series, our hosts Ksenija Lukich and Jemimah Wei are on a mission to not only discover some amazing destinations in Thailand, but to outdo each other with the best social-media image!
