This week on Foxtel is all about those at the top of their game.
After some incredible race-circuit action in Australia in Bahrain, the 2019 Formula 1 Championship drivers head to Shangai for the Chinese Grand Prix. And this isn’t just any race, it’s the 1000th World Championship event so you will not want to miss a second. Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo is still getting used to his new Renault gear – see how he fares this time.
Speaking of notable tournaments, for golfing fans it’s hard to beat The Masters when it comes to ultimate kudos. This prestigious competition takes place at the famous Augusta National Golf Club, and the world’s best are ready to tee off.
While Adam Scott, Jason Day and others are ready to create magic on the golfing green, Emily Blunt casts a spell in Mary Poppins Returns. Many thought it would be hard to match the original 1964 film, but with Blunt stepping into this famous role, it’s become an instant classic.
Other movie miracles arriving include animated escapade How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World; hit sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp and a Hop Into Easter playlist on FoxFlicks full of gems for the whole family.
Oh, and you might have heard of a little show called Game of Thrones? With season eight almost here (it begins April 15), there’s plenty to get you in the mood. Superfans James Mathison and Stephenie Bendixsen host Thrones 360 and will do a final recap this Monday before their live aftershows begin next week, while Jon Snow himself, Kit Harington, hosts Saturday Night Live, and there’s a mega Game of Thrones marathon at the end starting Friday which presents all 67 episodes – taking you straight up to the new instalment. Ever wondered which country is the best in the world in which to live out your twilight years? Mary Poppins Returns – Store
This engaging sequel yields enough nods to the original to win over the most diehard fan. Emily Blunt stars as the practically perfect nanny who returns to help the next generation of the Banks family through a tough time in their lives. Nominated for four Academy Awards, and featuring a cameo from original castmember Dick Van Dyke, it’s a magical, musical adventure.
Escape to the Chateau, s3 – Lifestyle, 9.30pm
Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree are back! The endearing couple continue their journey to renovate their beloved French chateau, and restore its 19th-century glory. With 20 rooms still awaiting renovations and wedding season coming up, this pair really needs to get cracking.
World Movies with Margaret Pomeranz: A War – Masterpiece Movies, 8.30pm
Before actor Pilou Asbæk returns to our screens as Euron Greyjoy in Game of Thrones, catch him in this critically acclaimed Danish film playing a military commander facing trial in his homeland, charged with civil murder in Afghanistan. With his actions considered both heroic and brutal, what unfolds is a brilliantly told story that considers all sides of this ethical dilemma.
Silent Wings: The American Glider Pilots of WWII – HISTORY, 7.30pm
This compelling documentary uncovers the crucial role US cargo gliders played in World War II. With rare archival footage of gliders in action and interviews with veterans, the moving account highlights the courageous efforts these men went to in order to save lives.

Jane the Virgin, s5 – FOX8, 9.30pm
Jane the Virgin has never held back from delivering some impressive twists, and it ended its fourth season with an unbelievable surprise. We’re not going to give anything away but that jaw-dropping moment paved the way for an incredible fifth and final (sob!) season.
2019 Toyota AFL Premiership – FOX FOOTY, LIVE from 6.30pm
Round 4 opens with a Sydney Swans and Melbourne Demons clash at the SCG. The Swans trio of co-captains – Luke Parker, Dane Rampe and Josh Kennedy – will be expecting big things from the team, while Scott Pendlebury will be hoping his Pies deliver. Catch plenty of AFL action across the weekend, including Saturday’s Port Adelaide and Richmond game at 4.30pm, which will also come to you live in 4K Ultra HD on Foxtel 4K.
Holmes and Holmes, s2 – Lifestyle Home, 9.30pm
Father-and-son renovation experts, Mike and Mike Jr, return for a second season of tackling projects with a hammer. Armed with the elder Holmes’s philosophy to “make it right”, the pair has to transform three neglected properties into dream homes – and plan Mike Jr’s wedding to Lisa. Let the mayhem begin!
Into the Canyon – National Geographic, 8.30pm
Did you know more people have stood on the moon than completed the 1200km continuous hike through America’s famous Grand Canyon? In 2016, Pete McBride and Kevin Fedarko documented themselves making this epic journey, to not just highlight its spectacular landscapes but to make others aware of the threats that could change it forever.
NHL Playoffs – ESPN, LIVE 9.30am
All teams are hungry for victory as the race towards the Stanley Cup gears up and the playoffs get underway. While we don’t know yet who’s confirmed, Tampa Bay Lightning has already clinched the Presidents’ Trophy with this season’s best record. Others to look out for include the New York Islanders and defending champions the Washington Capitals.

Game of Thrones s1-7 marathon – FOX SHOWCASE, from 7.30pm
OK, this is it, your last chance to get across all you’ve missed on Game of Thrones before the long-awaited eighth season gets underway this Monday, April 15. Tonight begins one epic marathon that takes you all the way from the Lannister clan arriving at Winterfell in the very first episode, right through until the last instalment of the seventh outing. Running right through until season eight commences, catch every episode, every battle, every twist and turn until the biggest TV event of 2019 gets underway.

It’s time for the most famous course in golf to host the most coveted tournament on the planet: The Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club. How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World – Store
Hiccup is all grown up and is now the confident leader of Berk island alongside Astrid. But the appearance of a female dragon, ‘Light Fury’ forces him and loyal Toothless on a mission to protect everything they hold dear. This final instalment in Disney’s touching trilogy packs an emotional punch.
Hostile Planet – National Geographic, 8.30pm
Action-man adventurer Bear Grylls hosts and narrates this six-part nature series. Each episode follows animals struggling to survive in extremely harsh environments. The incredible footage takes viewers to mountains, oceans, jungles, deserts and polar regions, in a series that shouldn’t be missed.

Guest starring on tonight’s show with the cheeky BAFTA award-winning talk show host Graham Norton is Jason Momoa (Aquaman and Game of Thrones), comedian Bill Bailey (Black Books) and music from British girl group, Little Mix.
