Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars in the seventh and final season of Veep which arrives on Tuesday
Do you hear that? It’s the sound of some returning favourites heading your way this week on Foxtel.
We welcome back Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s Selina Meyer for the seventh season of the hilarious Veep. It’s the final outing for the show that has won its lead actress an incredible six Primetime Emmy Awards which is all the more reason to not miss an episode.
Speaking of award-winning comedies, Bill Hader’s Barry made us all sit up and take notice last year. It’s a brilliantly funny story of a hitman who decides he’d rather be an actor and it heads into its sophomore season on Tuesday.
In terms of being in the spotlight, you cannot beat the family that has taken this to new heights. It’s season 16 of Keeping Up with the Kardashians! The ever-growing clan shows no signs of tiring of the fly-on-thewall genre, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
The British series Baptiste is a return of sorts – following Julien Baptiste, the French detective from the hit series The Missing. Now with his own series, Tchéky Karyo’s on-screen alter ego will take viewers deep into Amsterdam’s criminal underworld when it arrives on BBC First.
And What We Do in the Shadows is another revisit, in a way. Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement bring a fresh take on their hit 2014 horror-spoof movie of the same name in this new TV series that follows some vampires trying to get by in New York City. It’s hilarious!

Very Cavallari, s2 – E!, 8.30pm The Hills alum Kristin Cavallari welcomes viewers back into her private world as she goes about life in her adopted home of Nashville with former NFL star hubby Jay Cutler. After launching her flagship store Uncommon James last season, the pressure is on for Cavallari and her team to keep the business running like clockwork – of course, drama is never far away with this crew!
Indian Premier League – FOX CRICKET, LIVE (for screening times check the EPG or foxtel.com.au/tvguide) The world’s best converge in India this month to take part in the most lucrative Twenty20 franchise on the planet. Australian heavy-hitters Chris Lynn, Marcus Stoinis, Shane Watson and David Warner will be hoping to make fans proud as they go toe-to-toe with the likes of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant.

Both Bill Hader and Henry Winkler have won Primetime Emmy Awards for the dark comedy Barry Veep, s7 – FOX SHOWCASE, EXPRESS 7.30pm Following six stellar seasons, political satire Veep sadly comes to a close, beginning tonight. Season seven kicks off with Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s Selina Meyer going up against Jonah (Timothy Simons) as she hits the campaign trail in the bid to secure the presidency – on her own merits this time.
Barry, s2 – FOX SHOWCASE, EXPRESS 8pm In the wake of last season’s showdown with Detective Moss (Paula Newsome), things are about to get a whole lot more perilous for Barry (Bill Hader) as he attempts to conceal his job as a hitman while throwing himself into his newfound passion for the arts. This award-winning comedy is a must.
What We Do in the Shadows – FOX SHOWCASE, 8.30pm What do you get when you transplant a trio of hundred-year-old vampires into modern-day New York City and document their every move with a camera crew as they try to assimilate? The recipe for hilarity, that’s what! Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement bring their killer 2014 parody film to the small screen.

Get set for another rip-roaring Transformers escapade with the hit Bumblee starring Hailee Steinfeld
Bumblebee – Store From the edge-of-your-seat opening sequence, the action doesn’t let up in this endearing addition to the Transformers franchise. It’s 1987 and Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld) meets a battle-scarred Autobot who has sought refuge in a junkyard. But when Charlie revives him, she realises he’s not your average yellow VW bug. A fun, thrill-ride of a movie!
The Korean War – HISTORY, 8.30pm Possibly the most important event since WWII, the Korean War continues to influence international relations to this day. With the recent opening of archives in Russia, the U.S., China and South Korea, this thoughtprovoking documentary sheds new light on the conflict that’s had many ramifications.
NBA – ESPN, LIVE from 11am This round couldn’t get any hotter. Jostling for a spot in the playoffs, it’s Oklahoma City Thunder up against the LA Lakers. Following on from that scorching game is the Golden State Warriors against Denver Nuggets, and although both teams have secured playoff positions, it’s a big match-up you won’t want to miss.
Homestead Rescue, s2 – Discovery Channel, 8.30pm The ever-resourceful Marty Raney and his family return for a second season of Homestead Rescue in their attempts to teach rookie homesteaders how to thrive and survive in their off-the-grid lifestyles. With everything from extreme weather, intense fires, and prowling predators to deal with, which families will tough it out?
WSL: Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast – FOX SPORTS 507, LIVE from 7am It’s day one of the Quiksilver Pro at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast. This A-grade location produces some of the world’s most perfect waves, making it the best venue for such a battle. Brazilian Gabriel Medina may have the world title, but the event’s defending champ Australian Julian Wilson is all fired up with his sights set on starting the new season in winning style.

NRL Telstra Premiership – FOX LEAGUE, LIVE from 7pm It might only be Round 4, but all the sides are looking to position themselves for a chance at the finals early on. This week’s first match sees the Roosters up against the Broncos – will it be a repeat of the thrashing from Round 24 last year when the Roosters took home glory by 14 points? Hitler’s Secret Tunnels – HISTORY, 7.30pm After uncovering a secret document, explorers Luke Mahoney and Mike Scott venture into miles of hidden tunnels which could offer up new information about Hitler in his final days. Mega Marine Machines, s1B – Discovery Science, 9.30pm We head back into the series that goes deep into the ultimate challenges faced by the machines that work on the waves. With nifty tools and expert technology, this is ocean engineering at its biggest and the vehicles explored are impressive in so many ways.
Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists – FOX8, 8.30pm It’s a fresh episode of this addictive new follow-up series that’s been a welcome arrival for fans of the original which ended in 2017. This time, we’re in Beacon Heights, a college town, where the A-grade students we meet don’t just excel at their studies, but at having plenty of secrets and scandals as well!

Another must-watch BBC First crime drama arrives to fulfil your Friday night – don’t miss Baptiste
Baptiste – BBC First, 8.30pm Tchéky Karyo rehashes his role from The Missing as Julien Baptiste, the sharp, fiercely intelligent French detective who leaves no stone unturned. In Baptiste, he finds himself in Amsterdam’s red light district searching for a missing sex worker, and as he digs deeper into the criminal underworld, Julien uncovers a tangled web of deceit and lies.
The Real Housewives of Cheshire, s9 – Arena, 2.30pm, ENCORE at 9.30pm The women of Cheshire are back for a ninth season, and fuelled with champagne and drama. Series eight ended in a bout of tense commotion when Dawn stormed off the set in the reunion episode – however that won’t stop her coming back for more. The Cheshire jet set are ready to turn the temperature up!
Disney Channel Original Movie: Kim Possible – Disney Channel, 5.30pm Action-heroes Kim Possible (Sadie Stanley) and her best pal Ron Stoppable (Sean Giambrone) are about to start Year 9, all while saving the world from dastardly villains. However, navigating the social hierarchy of high school is proving to be a bit of a challenge, and so they must cast the net for help even wider to beat the evildoers once and for all!
BlacKkKlansman – Premiere Movies, 8.30pm Based on true events, this dark comedy tells the story of Ron Stallworth, an African-American police officer who successfully infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in the 1970s with the help of his Jewish partner. Catch John David Washington and Adam Driver at their best in this Oscar-winning flick, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Spike Lee.
Super Rugby Championship – FOX SPORTS 507, LIVE from 5pm It’s Round 8 of the championship and a Kiwi derby sees Dunedin’s Highlanders host Wellington’s Hurricanes at Forsyth Barr Stadium to see if they can redeem themselves following the Round 4 defeat that saw the Hurricanes win by just three points. Stick around for another tightly contested match between the Queensland Reds and South Africa’s Stormers at 7.30pm.

Toyota AFL Premiership – FOX FOOTY, LIVE from 1pm Round 3 roars into action today. First up, the Blues confront the Swans, and then the Giants will aim to tame the Tigers. And you won’t want to miss tonight’s 2018 grand final reunion match between Collingwood and West Coast. After the nail-biter that occurred when they last met, the Pies will be desperate to make sure they come out on top this time. Kick-off’s at 7.25pm.
Eighth Grade – Store This cute coming-of-age film that wowed critics is about an introverted teenage girl attempting to survive her final week of Year 8 – which has thus far been disastrous – before leaving to start senior school. The under-the-radar hit did well in the recent awards season (including a Golden Globe nomination) and is the perfect film for a Saturday night in.
Taffy – Boomerang, 9am What do you get when you get a greedy, trash-eating raccoon disguised as a posh neighbourhood cat? The imposter named Taffy! Billionaire old lady Mrs Muchmore is charmed by the adorable ‘cat’ and takes him in, which leads to plenty of slapstick mayhem with her pet dog – Bentley. But Bentley is pretty jealous, and so sets about to expose Taffy for the raccoon he is. Uh-oh!
The Guardians – Crime + Investigation, 9.30pm This documentary uncovers the multimillion dollar business scam that has allowed court-appointed guardians to seize control of seniors’ estates against their will. With their independence gone and life savings pillaged bit-by-bit, it’s a heartbreaking and grim depiction of the darker side of humanity.
Mr Inbetween – BoxSets, from 6.45pm Ray Shoesmith is a 40-year old father, loyal pal and embarking on a new relationship. He’s also a hitman for hire and balancing all these roles makes for a deliriously offbeat, dark comedy. With a second season coming this year, now’s your chance to catch up on all episodes of this hit series’ debut outing.

90 Day Fiancé, s6 – TLC, 8.30pm 90 Day Fiancé is back! Six new couples embark on the challenging K-1 visa process, whereby an American brings their intended to the US and must marry within 90 days in order to receive the Green Card.
