NINE PERFECT STRANGERS with Nicole Kidman is a record series launch for 2021 on Amazon Prime Video

The first three episodes of the highly anticipated limited drama series Nine Perfect Strangers, starring Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy, premiered on Amazon Prime Video Australia last Friday, becoming an instant hit and the biggest series launch of 2021 on Amazon across drama, comedy, limited series or unscripted releases. The series, which was filmed on location in Australia’s Byron Bay and stars Australian actors including Nicole Kidman, Asher Keddie and Samara Weaving, scored higher viewers in it’s opening weekend than any other series of 2021. Amazon Prime Video measures viewer numbers by counting individual users for each new release. This is to ensure consistency across all titles, whether they watched a single episode or multiple episodes. Tyler Bern, Head of Content for Amazon Prime Video Australia and New Zealand said: “The runaway success of Nine Perfect Strangers in Australia is testament to the incredibly talented creative teams who worked tirelessly to create this exceptional series. Amazon Prime Video is proud to share Australian storytelling with audiences across the globe, and is excited for viewers to see how this unique and extraordinary story progresses.” Set at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation, nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living. Watching over them during this ten-day retreat is the resort’s director Masha (Nicole Kidman), a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine strangers have no idea what is about to hit them. Amazon Prime Video has also released a preview clip of the fourth episode, Brave New World, ahead of the episode launch today. SEE LINK HERE. In the episode, Masha (Kidman) comes clean about some of Tranquillum’s secrets, forcing the guests to decide if they will stay or go. Heather and Napoleon disagree about the retreat’s practices, and Carmel (Regina Hall) opens up to Masha in her one-on-one session. As treatment continues, Frances (McCarthy) and Carmel let off steam that’s been building for a long time. Tony (Bobby Cannavale) reveals more of himself to Frances, and Lars’ (Luke Evans) motives for coming to Tranquillum House are exposed. Pressure on Masha intensifies as Delilah (Tiffany Boone) remains sceptical about Masha’s decision to take the protocol to the next level. Nine Perfect Strangers stars Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy alongside Luke Evans, Tiffany Boone, Bobby Cannavale, Melvin Gregg, Regina Hall, Manny Jacinto, Asher Keddie, Michael Shannon, Grace Van Patten, and Samara Weaving. Nine Perfect Strangers is based on the 2018 novel by Australian author Liane Moriarty and is executive produced and created by David E Kelley, executive produced by Nicole Kidman, Per Saari, Bruna Papandrea, Jodi Matterson, Steve Hutensky, Samantha Strauss, John-Henry Butterworth, Molly Allen, Melissa McCarthy, Liane Moriarty and Jonathan Levine.
