The streaming sector in Australia is set to become even more competitive with the 10 Network finally confirming plans to launch Pluto TV in Australia.
Classic movies and TV shows will be available on-demand whenever you want them thanks to Pluto TV.
The Paramount owned service has proved to be a hit globally and now is finally arriving in Australia in 2023.
Pluto TV is a leading provider in the growing trend of FAST TV (free ad-supported television)
The US version of Pluto TV offers a mix of over 250 live-streaming TV channels plus 1000’s of on-demand movies and TV shows.
Channel 10 is yet to confirm an exact launch date for the service or just how much of the Pluto package will be available to Australian consumers.
As previously reported by TV Blackbox, Pluto TV is set to become a free, ad-supported tile as part of the networks existing streaming offering 10play.
In an interview with Mediaweek, Beverley McGarvey, executive vice president and chief content officer for Paramount ANZ stated:
“We have Channel 10, 10play, MTV, Nickelodeon, and Paramount+. What the fast channels allow us to do is really operate in that fast channel curated linear channel space.
There can be multiple genres on there, or a single genre channel – perhaps a cooking channel or a MasterChef channel for superfans of that show, where they can find all the different MasterChef series.
“It gives us the opportunity to offer consumers a linear experience in that space that is curated for them.
One of the things we spoke about at the upfront is that we will schedule primetime for you – if you want to sit down and watch Survivor at 7:30pm, brilliant, we’ll do it.
If you want to watch things in a different way, we’ll also do that. What the Fast Channels through Pluto allow us to do is offer that curation.”
