Network 10 has officially unveiled its new 6pm news and current affairs program, 10 News+, marking a major shake-up in the early evening slot.
The new offering, described as a premium, in-depth take on the day’s biggest stories, will follow 10’s existing 5pm local bulletins and aims to provide viewers with extended context, long-form reporting and investigative journalism.
Fronted by veteran journalists Denham Hitchcock and Amelia Brace from Sunday to Thursday, with Ursula Heger and Hugh Riminton leading coverage on Fridays, 10 News+ boasts a line-up of experienced reporters aiming to deliver serious journalism with depth and clarity.
Today’s announcement comes just days after 10 confirmed it would retire The Project, ending its long run after years in the 6.30pm slot.

Network 10 today announced the launch of its premium, in-depth news, current affairs and insights program, 10 NEWS+, which will premiere on Monday, 30 June at 6pm on 10 and 10 Play.
10 NEWS+ will follow Network 10’s 5pm local news bulletins across the country, offering viewers extended context and deeper reporting on the day’s biggest stories. The 5pm bulletin remains a cornerstone of the network’s trusted news offering, delivering the latest breaking news and updates.
10 NEWS+ aims to redefine evening news by providing comprehensive analysis, trusted reporting, and long-form investigative journalism. The program will offer a fresh perspective on critical local and global stories, tailored for an engaged audience seeking in-depth news coverage.
At a time when misinformation is rife, 10 NEWS+ is steadfast in its commitment to truth and transparency, delivering journalism with integrity, clarity, and purpose.
Designed for Australia’s evolving media landscape, 10 NEWS+ will integrate across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms, ensuring content is accessible and engaging for Australians everywhere.
The program will be anchored Sunday to Thursday by investigative journalist Denham Hitchcock and Walkley Award-winning journalist Amelia Brace, with Senior Journalist and respected news anchor Ursula Heger and National Affairs Editor Hugh Riminton leading coverage every Friday.

Denham Hitchcock’s impressive career spans more than three decades, including coverage from the front lines of Iraq and Syria.
His persistent investigations have sparked national conversations and have even led to murder charges, while his tenure as a US Correspondent for the Nine Network included covering mass shootings, tornadoes, and presidential campaigns.

Her compelling live coverage of the Black Lives Matter protest, following the death of George Floyd, during which she and her crew were assaulted by police, garnered international attention and led to her testimony before a US congressional hearing.

Additionally, 10’s Entertainment Editor Angela Bishop will bring her exceptional access to the biggest stories in entertainment, including red carpet events and exclusive interviews with Hollywood’s elite.
10 NEWS+ will be led by Executive Producer Daniel Sutton, a seasoned Senior Journalist with a 19-year tenure at Network 10.
His extensive experience includes reporting on major global and domestic events such as the Paris terrorist attacks and the Boston Marathon bombings, as well as serving as the network’s US Correspondent during the Obama administration.

Why leave 7 to go to 10 ?
Going from No 1 to at least No 5. Each to their own. Time will tell.
But not entirely correct, 7 isn’t #1 in that Timeslot, Channel 9 is #1 with 60 Minutes beating Spotlight.
Even elsewhere A Current Affair is #1 and 9News Sydney is Smashing 7News Sydney where they are in.. And Channel 10 is 4th ahead of SBS in 5th.
So it’s really Seven in #2 and Ten in #4.!!

I always viewed The Project as “woke tabloid” and I fear the new line up will be the same. Hope they prove me wrong.
