John Cena’s chaotic vigilante, Christopher “Chris” Smith, is back in Peacemaker Season 2, premiering on Max this August.

Created by James Gunn, the second season continues where the first left off, with Smith struggling to reconcile his troubled past while continuing his wild mission for peace—regardless of the cost.

The new season will see Cena return as the titular character alongside familiar faces, including Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, and Steve Agee. Joining the cast this season are new recruits Frank Grillo, David Denman, Sol Rodriguez, and Tim Meadows, bringing fresh energy and chaos to the already explosive storyline.

Gunn, who wrote all eight episodes and directed three—including the opening episode—returns as the driving force behind the series, serving as an executive producer alongside Peter Safran and John Cena. The season promises to deliver more of the same mix of outrageous action, offbeat humour, and heart that made the first season a hit with audiences.

Produced by Gunn’s Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company, Peacemaker is based on characters from DC, and will once again test the boundaries of superhero antics as Cena’s character strives for peace, all while facing ridiculous and dangerous new threats.

Mark your calendars for the return of Peacemaker—the season promises to be bigger, bolder, and as unpredictable as ever.

The Max Original series Peacemaker returns for its eight-episode second season Friday, 22 August, exclusively on Max.
