After a string of underwhelming results in the Friday night lifestyle slot, 10 is pinning its hopes on the launch of House Hunters Australia to help turn things around – and they’re banking on a post-MasterChef launch to help audiences find the show.
Since the long-running and popular lifestyle series The Living Room was “rested” by the network, 10 has struggled to lock in a reliable replacement, with attempts like Location, Location, Location hosted by The Block’s Mitch & Mark in 2023 not returning for a second season, and last year’s awful attempt at a primetime Ready Steady Cook reboot failing to make any impact.
This new home-buying reality series promises drama, tough choices, and a dose of Aussie humour – all set against stunning backdrops. It marks the first time an Australian network has produced a local version of the hugely popular House Hunters format, whose international editions air locally on Nine’s multi channel 9Life – making it a notable move for 10, a network that’s yet to find its footing in the property genre.
With half-hour episodes airing in double blocks each week, could this fresh take be the one to finally lift 10’s Friday fortunes?
From 10:
Sold! House Hunters Australia Is Moving In.
In the first ever season of House Hunters Australia, Aussie buyers dive headfirst into the chaos of finding their dream home and you get to come along for the ride.
Where dreams meet drama, House Hunters Australia will premiere on Sunday, 11 May at 8.20pm on 10 and 10 Play, straight after MasterChef Australia, before settling into its regular home of Friday’s at 7.30pm.

Narrated by The Project’s Georgie Tunny, the stakes are high as buyers tour three homes, each offering a unique mix of pros, cons, and unexpected decisions. Will they fall for the fixer-upper full of potential, the sleek modern gem, or the house they didn’t see coming?
Whether it’s debating modern kitchens versus heritage charm, clashing over pools and veggie patches, or weighing city life against coastal escapes, each episode is packed with big personalities and even bigger decisions.
With stunning Australian backdrops, plenty of laughs, and the occasional wild card property that could change everything, every episode delivers the thrill of the hunt and the satisfaction of the final choice.
Packed with relatable moments, fiery opinions, and a healthy dose of Aussie humour, play along and guess which home will win their hearts (and wallets).
House Hunters Australia is produced by Warner. Bros International Television Production Australia for Network 10.
No lol
Location Location Location would absolutely have been a success if it wasn’t for vomit inducing hosts Mitch and Mark.
They should definitely give it a go again with suitable hosts.
House Hunters Australia will be good providing it follows to the letter the concept of the original House Hunters. I really enjoy House Hunters International.
The Australian version will need to follow new arrivals to Australia to make it interesting. If it’s just Australians featured it’ll fail.
Let’s see how it runs.
Mitch and Mark were fabulous on Location Location Location and resonate really well with many viewers. They can see potential in properties and were a great duo!

Annoying rich prats buying houses in a climate where most are struggling to pay rent… no thanks
Neil James exactly 💯
So far I don’t think I’ve seen any prospective buyer with a budget under a million.
One couple’s was 3.2 – 3 5. Fare enough they had a business to consider.
Even a young couple with a baby had 1.? million.
So out of touch with the everyday buyer.
Oh, our budget is 1.8 million.. do we need a pool if we’re near the beach? Oh the trials and tribulations of the average Sydney sider.. this show is just rubbing salt in the wounds of most of us what a load of garbage
Georgie Tunney’s voiceover narrative is grating and off putting, way too scripted and forced. Big flop, can’t see it lasting long!
