On last night’s episode of Married at First Sight, Homestays continued, throwing couples headfirst into each other’s lives—and not everyone was ready for the reality check.

From romantic beach swims to awkward family dinners and a showdown over nerdy collectibles, emotions ran high as relationships were tested like never before.

While some duos found new strength in their connection, others were left questioning if they’ve made the right match.

From Nine:

As Homestays continue, some couples blossom. In Perth, Carina and Paul take a romantic dip in the ocean and reflect on the strength of their relationship. Rhi and Jeff arrive at Jeff’s Melbourne apartment, where they acknowledge how far they have come second time around.

Meanwhile, Jamie and Dave are navigating a challenging Homestay. With Jamie harbouring doubts about Dave’s feelings towards her, the couple have spent the first few nights in separate apartments.

When they meet at a pub, Jamie expresses her need for reassurance to Dave, who admits fault and confesses his true feelings for her, resolving to put more effort into showing Jamie how much he really cares.

In Sydney, Jacqui and Ryan travel from Jacqui’s apartment in coastal Manly to Ryan’s place in the southwest suburbs. For Ryan, Jacqui’s appreciation of the house he has worked hard for is essential, but Jacqui is moved to tears by Ryan’s clutter of nerdy collectables and bits and bobs.

Beth is thrilled to be bringing her first-ever partner Teejay to her family home in Brisbane. Beth hopes their recent intimacy is a sign that Teejay’s romantic feelings towards her are developing.

Things move forward in Melbourne when Dave moves into Jamie’s apartment, and Jamie is reassured by his presence and affection. However, over at Ryan’s house in Sydney, Jacqui writes a to-do list of ways he could improve his living space, and despite Ryan laughing it off, he feels judged.

Adrian and Awhina reflect on their Homestay while picnicking on a Perth beach. Adrian clashed with Awhina’s twin sister Cleo, but he has otherwise enjoyed his time in Awhina’s home city. He suggests they try long distance after the experiment, and Awhina feels positive about their prospects.

Beth’s best friend Darcey joins Beth, her family, and Teejay for a roast dinner. But it is Teejay who gets roasted when Darcey challenges his use of the word “friendship” to describe his relationship with Beth.

In a private conversation with Beth, Darcey calls nonsense on Teejay’s empty words. Beth’s previous insecurities about the relationship resurface.

The following day, Beth and Teejay spend time with Teejay’s friends. Teejay shares that, for him, their relationship is lacking what he needs. Beth leaves the table in shock. Out of Beth’s earshot, Teejay confides that if he had to make a choice right now, he would end the relationship.

Beth confronts Teejay about his revelation during lunch, and he reiterates that he is unsure about their future together, leaving Beth distraught.

Jeff rounds off a happy homestay by giving Rhi a key to his apartment, cementing their commitment to one another. Also ending positively are Jamie and Dave, who visit Dave’s dad. It’s an emotional visit as they celebrate a turning point in Dave’s dad’s cancer treatment.

The occasion proves to Jamie that Dave really cares, and she feels positive about returning to Sydney as a couple.

Back in Sydney, a bush walk turns testy when Jacqui challenges Ryan about his preferred dog-walking technique. Ryan has had it with her constantly critiquing him. Jacqui and Ryan meet their friends at a southwest Sydney pub.

The occasion takes a turn when Ryan’s friends Adam and Karla have a go at Jacqui for her condescending behaviour towards Ryan. Jacqui breaks down in tears and storms off.

Married At First Sight Australia continues 7:30pm tonight, Wednesday 19th March on Channel 9 and 9Now
