Scrublands, the critically acclaimed Stan Original series based on Chris Hammer’s best-selling novel, is set to make its free-to-air premiere on Channel 9 this March.
The gripping crime thriller, which first premiered on Stan in November 2023, follows investigative journalist Martin Scarsden as he uncovers dark secrets behind a mass murder committed by a local priest.
Already renewed for a second series set to air sometime this year on the streaming service, all 4 episodes of the first season will air over two weeks on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
From Nine:
Based on the award-winning novel by Chris Hammer, the Stan Original Series Scrublands is a gripping crime thriller that follows a journalist investigating a mass murder committed in the isolated small-town of Riversend by a local priest.
Starring Luke Arnold and Bella Heathcote with Jay Ryan and Robert Taylor, the series begins with the town’s charismatic and dedicated young priest Byron Swift (Ryan) as he calmly opens fire on his congregation, killing five parishioners.
One year later investigative journalist Martin Scarsden (Arnold) arrives to write what should be a simple feature story on the anniversary of the tragedy.
But as he digs beneath the surface, the previously accepted narrative starts to fall apart and he finds himself in a life and death race to uncover the truth.
