ABBEY GELMI named as new host of ABC’s sports panel series OFFSIDERS

Abbey Gelmi, known for presenting sport on 7 News Melbourne and her work covering several sporting events, will take over as host of Offsiders this year.

Gelmi brings her extensive experience and passion for sport to the iconic panel show, which will continue to explore key issues and results in sports across Australia and internationally.

She replaces outgoing host Kelli Underwood, who stepped down after seven years at the helm late last year.

The ABC is thrilled to announce acclaimed television presenter and journalist, Abbey Gelmi as the new host of ABC’s iconic sport panel series, Offsiders.

Kicking off a new season from Sunday 2 February at 10am on ABC TV and ABC iviewOffsiders will continue to unpack all the action both on and off the field in 2025.

As one of Australia’s leading sports media figures, Abbey brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion for sport to the ABC. She presents sport for 7NEWS Melbourne and has covered some of the world’s biggest sporting events including hosting the Summer and Winter Olympic coverage, the Commonwealth Games, AFL, cricket, motorsport and horse racing.

Abbey Gelmi said “I’m thrilled to be joining Offsiders in 2025. The opportunity to talk all things sport with the calibre of panellists who frequent the show is both exciting and humbling. It’s an honour to follow those who have hosted before me and I can’t wait for the early Sunday mornings!”

ABC’s Head of Entertainment, Rachel Millar said “We are so excited to have Abbey joining the Offsiders team. The shoes she’s filling are substantial, but Abbey knocks it out of the park in terms of qualifications. In 2025, Offsiders will continue tobring together Australia’s leading sports writers, commentators and athletes to examine the big issues and major results in sport across the country and the globe.

There’ll be no shortage of action and analysis with coverage across a host of sports and major codes including the Women’s and Men’s Ashes, British Lions tour, State of Origin, and more. Offsiders will also travel to be part of the AFL’s Gather Round and the NRL’s Magic Round.
