ABC’s groundbreaking documentary series The Assembly is returning for a second season, and the broadcaster has launched a casting call for autistic individuals with a passion for journalism.
The first season of Australia’s adaptation of The Assembly aired last year, featuring interviews with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, comedian Hamish Blake, actor Sam Neill, and radio star Amanda Keller.
Successful applicants will receive hands-on training, mentorship from acclaimed journalist Leigh Sales, and the opportunity to interview high-profile Australians as part of this innovative program.

Are you autistic? Are you interested in learning journalism skills? Do you like talking to interesting people?
We are offering autistic people with an interest in journalism the opportunity to take part in a specially designed introductory journalism program taught by Macquarie University and supported by Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) and Bus Stop Films.
Successful applicants will be mentored by renowned journalist Leigh Sales and will take part in interviews with high profile Australians.

Applicants must be 18 or older and available for filming in Sydney from 7 April to 6 June 2025, committing approximately 4 hours per day, 3 to 4 days a week during this period.
