Former Bachelor star Matty J, real name Matthew Davidson, has been revealed as the first celebrity heading into the jungle for the upcoming season of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
The announcement was made this morning on his wife Laura Byrne’s Life Uncut podcast, where she was joined by her husband and executive producer Keeshia Pettit to share the exciting news.
Matty J is no stranger to reality TV, having first appeared on The Bachelorette before becoming The Bachelor in 2017, competing on Dancing with the Stars in 2021, hosting the travel show Luxury Escapes, and more recently co-hosting the Two Doting Dads podcast with Ash Wicks.
Matty J posted to his Instagram account this morning saying:
“Cat (or lion) is out of the bag! It’s always been a dream of mine to survive in the African jungle on nothing but zebra testicles and cold beans and this year it’s going to be a reality. Wish me luck!”
Former Bachelor star and last year’s I’m a Celebrity contestant Brittany Hockley reacted to the news, writing, “We can’t wait, yay! Enjoy the testicles! I may have hidden something there last year…“
The show, once again hosted by Julia Morris and Robert Irwin, returns to its January timeslot after two years, kicking off the year for 10 with a jungle-packed adventure.
