The Seven Network this morning has announced David Woiwod as the new co-host of Weekend Sunrise, stepping into the role alongside current presenter Monique Wright.
Woiwod returns to Australia after five years as 7 News US Bureau Chief, covering major global events including US presidential elections, natural disasters, and conflicts in the Middle East.
A familiar face to viewers, he previously served as Sunrise’s Melbourne reporter for four years.
Reflecting on his appointment, Woiwod said:
“This is a thrilling full-circle moment for me. I’m beyond excited to return to the Sunrise family and tell the stories that matter most to Australians. Mon is one of the most talented and hilarious people to work with—I can’t wait to get started.”
Seven’s Director of Morning Television, Sarah Stinson, praised Woiwod’s “depth of experience, strong work ethic, and authentic warmth,” describing him as the perfect fit for the role.
Co-host Monique Wright also welcomed Woiwod, noting his versatility as a journalist and sense of humour.
Woiwod replaces Matt Doran, who wrapped up his five-year tenure as Weekend Sunrise co-host last weekend.
