In Deadloch’s upcoming season, detectives Dulcie (Box) and Eddie (Sami) head to Darwin to investigate the death of Eddie’s former partner, Bushy. Their inquiry takes a twist when a body is discovered in a remote town, launching them into an intense new investigation amid the steamy Northern Territory.

Hemsworth joins as Jason Wade, a local wildlife celebrity who stars in Jason Wade’s Adventures Down Under and operates Jason Wade’s Land of Crocs and Other Animals Wildlife Park.

Reflecting on Hemsworth’s casting, Deadloch co-creators and executive producers Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan expressed enthusiasm. “Luke Hemsworth is joining our cast as croc-wrangling Territory icon, Jason Wade. We’re feeling very happy with ourselves about this because he’s perfect. It’s perfect casting.”

Season two, created by McCartney and McLennan, is directed by Beck Cole and Gracie Otto with Andy Walker as producer. Additional new cast members include well-known actors Steve Bisley (The Great Gatsby, Mad Max), Shari Sebbens (The Sapphires, The Office), Jean Tong (Heartbreak High), and Genevieve Morris (Bloom, No Activity), as well as Ursula Yovich (Mystery Road, Top End Wedding) among others.

Filming began in the Northern Territory, though production has now shifted to Brisbane studios and other areas in Queensland to ensure a safer environment for the cast and crew. The series also receives support from Screen Territory under its Production Attraction Incentive Program and Screen Queensland through its Production Attraction Strategy.

Deadloch forms part of Prime Video’s growing slate of Australian Originals. Since 2019, Prime Video has invested in 30 Australian series and features, including titles such as The Test, Back to the Rafters, Class of ‘07, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, and the upcoming The Narrow Road to the Deep North.
