Stan has unveiled the official trailer for its upcoming sci-fi drama series, Earth Abides, featuring Alexander Ludwig (Vikings, The Covenant) and Jessica Frances Dukes (Ozark). The highly anticipated series is set to debut on December 2, premiering the same day as in the United States, exclusively on Stan.
Adapted from George R. Stewart’s iconic 1949 novel, Earth Abides centres on a world devastated by a catastrophic plague that leaves only a sparse scattering of survivors. As the fabric of society unravels, the series follows these individuals as they grapple with both the harsh realities of survival and the broader existential question of humanity’s role in a world that has drastically changed.
The series is helmed by Todd Komarnicki (Sully), who serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Speaking on the adaptation, Komarnicki said: “It has been an absolute thrill to adapt George Stewart’s sci-fi classic. And an even greater honor to deliver a show that is custom built for our moment in history. Because amidst all the wild adventure and story twists and turns, Earth Abides provides proof that the one way forward for humanity is… love.”
Alongside Ludwig and Dukes, Earth Abides features an ensemble cast, including Aaron Tveit, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll, Elyse Levesque, Luisa D’Oliveira, Birkett Turton, Hilary McCormack, and Jenna Berman. The series brings together a team of directors—Bronwen Hughes (episodes 101 and 102), Rachel Leiterman (episodes 103 and 104), and Stephen Campanelli (episodes 105 and 106)—to capture its sweeping post-apocalyptic narrative.
Produced by MGM+ Studios and globally distributed by Amazon MGM Studios Distribution, Earth Abides has already garnered significant attention for its timely themes and ambitious storytelling.
