From unfinished work to winning designs, The Block’s backyard and pool reveal was packed with surprises. Catch up on all the scores.

In a rain-soaked episode of The Block, aired on Sunday night on Channel 9 and 9Now, contestants pushed through gruelling conditions as they scrambled to finish their backyard and pool areas ahead of judging.

For Kylie and Brad in House 4, the week was particularly rough. Their landscaper, Clay, failed to order key plants, leaving them behind on crucial tasks.

Stepping in to help, Kristian and Mimi’s landscaper, Troy Lovett, who is no stranger to the competition, lent his expertise to get them back on track. Despite his efforts, Kylie and Brad faced a harsh Sunday morning reality: their backyard was nowhere near finished.

Maddy and Charlotte encountered their own setback when their newly delivered Caesarstone bench for the BBQ area triggered an issue. With Caesarstone now banned in Victoria, they had to rethink their plans fast.

With Scotty calling “tools down” on Sunday, contestants revealed a series of backyard transformations. Joined by landscape expert Dave Franklin, judges Shaynna Blaze, Marty Fox, and Darren Palmer scrutinised each space, giving detailed feedback.

House 1: Maddy and Charlotte

Judges praised the expansive layout, with Marty deeming it “an entertainer’s dream.” The BBQ area in particular caught their eye, solidifying the yard’s appeal as a standout social space.

House 2: Courtney and Grant

This backyard was a clear favourite. The judges lauded the lush landscaping, impressive fire pit, and well-designed BBQ area. They described it as an inviting space, fit for relaxation and entertaining.

House 3: Ricky and Haydn

Ricky and Haydn received praise for the yard’s simplicity and functionality, though Shaynna wished for a bit more vibrancy. Still, the ample pool area was well-suited to a family, providing an enviable outdoor zone.

House 4: Kylie and Brad

Unfortunately, Kylie and Brad’s unfinished backyard left the judges unimpressed. The space felt incomplete, and while the couple had shown resilience throughout the week, it wasn’t enough to sway the panel.

House 5: Kristian and Mimi

Despite handling The Block’s largest backyard, Kristian and Mimi delivered a solid performance. The judges admired the unique addition of a basketball court but questioned the absence of a BBQ area.
