Prime Target follows Edward Brooks, portrayed by Woodall, a young mathematics postgraduate whose research into prime numbers could unlock global digital systems. As Edward nears a breakthrough, he begins to suspect that a mysterious force is determined to undermine his work.

His discoveries lead him to Taylah Sanders, an NSA agent played by Swindell, who has been instructed to monitor mathematicians for potentially risky behaviour. Together, they are drawn into a dark conspiracy at the centre of Edward’s research.

In addition to Thompson, Ed Rubin, Beth Pattinson, Emma Broughton, Yariv Milchan, Arnon Milchan, and Michael Schaefer executive produce for New Regency. Marina Brackenbury, David W. Zucker, and Ridley Scott oversee for Scott Free Productions, with Laura Hastings-Smith and Brady Hood (Top Boy, Great Expectations) also serving as executive producers.
