Channel 9’s The Golden Bachelor eyes entrepreneur Mark Bouris as its first suitor. Will he lead the Australian edition of the hit show?
Following confirmation that Australia is set to launch its own edition of The Golden Bachelor, attention is shifting towards who will take on the role of the first suitor in this anticipated series.
TV Blackbox was the first to reveal that Channel 9 had secured exclusive rights to produce The Golden Bachelor for the Australian market, and now we are hearing whispers that the network has its sights set on Mark Bouris, the founder of Wizard Home Loans and Yellow Brick Road, as a potential suitor to lead the franchise when it airs next year.
The 68-year-old entrepreneur and podcast host, is already familiar with the world of reality television, having previously fronted on Celebrity Apprentice Australia for Channel 9 and The Mentor for Channel 7.
Production for the Australian adaptation of The Golden Bachelor is scheduled to take place in Sydney between February and April 2025, with the series expected to premiere in the latter half of the year. The show will be hosted by Samantha Armytage, with the former Sunrise and Farmer Wants A Wife presenter finding a new home at Channel 9.
The Golden Bachelor offers a fresh take on the traditional dating show, focusing on love stories that unfold later in life.

The format, which has been a major hit in the United States, highlights that romance is not limited by age. The Australian version will follow a senior bachelor as he seeks to find a partner to share the next chapter of his life, with Armytage guiding him through the emotional journey.
The women vying for the Golden Bachelor’s heart will bring a range of life experiences, having navigated their own relationships and challenges. They’ll be seeking a connection that promises both companionship and adventure in their later years.
Produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia, The Golden Bachelor is set to feature the familiar elements of the Bachelor franchise, with moments of emotion, humour, and the iconic rose ceremonies.
Australian audiences will get their first glimpse of this new chapter in reality television when the series premieres on 9Network later in 2025.
