Watch Yellowstone season 5B as the Dutton family war escalates. Beth and Jamie are at odds, and John Dutton’s storyline reaches a dramatic conclusion.
The Dutton family’s internal strife escalates dramatically in the newly released trailer for the second half of season five of Yellowstone, which is set to premiere this November on Stan. The hit series, created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, returns after a lengthy hiatus, with the first half of the season airing in January 2023.
At the heart of the tension is Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly, who appears emotionally overwhelmed in the preview. “I can’t do this anymore,” she tells her husband, Rip Wheeler (portrayed by Cole Hauser), who firmly responds, “Well, you’re gonna have to, honey. Or we’re gonna lose this place.” This sets the tone for the intense drama that awaits as the Duttons continue their fight to protect the family’s vast cattle empire.
Despite his highly publicised departure, Kevin Costner, who plays patriarch John Dutton, is featured prominently in the trailer. His character’s journey appears to be reaching a conclusion, with Costner having officially exited the show during the production break. His departure reportedly allows him to focus on his own film project, Horizon, though it leaves a major void in the cast.
Family conflict remains central to the storyline, particularly the growing feud between Beth and her adoptive brother Jamie Dutton, played by Wes Bentley. In a chilling exchange, Jamie warns Beth, “You destroy me, you destroy yourself,” signalling the depth of the sibling rivalry. Meanwhile, Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri), a cunning strategist and Jamie’s romantic interest, encourages him to embrace his ambitions: “Old lions die in the jaws of younger lions. And you are the younger lion.”
Set against the stunning backdrop of Montana, Yellowstone delves into the Dutton family’s struggle to maintain control over the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. The series weaves together personal betrayals, unresolved conflicts, and the external pressures from expanding urban developments, an Indigenous reservation, and the challenges posed by America’s first national park.
The highly anticipated second half of season five will stream from Sunday, November 11 on Stan. However, plot details have been kept tightly under wraps, with the actors reportedly receiving only their own lines in redacted scripts, ensuring that even they are unsure how the series will unfold.
Although Paramount Network previously announced that this season would be the show’s last, there are discussions about a potential season six, with Reilly and Hauser both rumoured to be involved. The network has yet to confirm any details regarding future episodes or the total count for season 5B.
In the meantime, the Yellowstone universe is expanding with spinoff series. Among them is The Madison, set to star Michelle Pfeiffer, Matthew Fox, and Patrick J. Adams, marking another addition to the growing list of Yellowstone-related projects.
