In a thrilling conclusion to The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition, Tai ‘Bam Bam’ Tuivasa and his brother Logan emerged victorious, securing a win that capped off an intense competition.

Sunday night’s grand finale saw three teams racing through the bustling streets of Bangkok, but it was the Tuivasa brothers who crossed the finish line first, taking home $100,000 for their chosen charity, the Sydney Region Aboriginal Corporation (SRAC).

Reflecting on the win, Tai shared,

“It was a bit surreal, we kind of knew we were in first place but in this race you can never get too ahead of yourself. It was really cool.”

His brother Logan added, “I haven’t been to many Grand Finals in the footy, so this was like a Grand Final for me.”

The final leg of the race began with the three remaining teams – Oscar and Billy Brownless, Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley, and the Tuivasa brothers – all neck and neck as they headed to Bangkok’s cultural district.

Their first task was to master a traditional Thai sword dance. Despite strong performances, Brooke and Adam fell behind after getting lost in the chaotic streets of Chinatown, where teams were required to deliver two large fish to a local vendor without dropping them.

After navigating through the busy market, the teams faced an unconventional culinary challenge: preparing and eating a local Thai delicacy of fresh frog curry, followed by a dessert of duck neck and water bugs. With their stomachs tested, the racers then moved on to the final challenge: solving a puzzle that tested their memory of the entire journey.

Each of the 11 legs of the race had featured specific symbols, and teams had to arrange these in the correct order. Although all teams arrived at the puzzle together, it was Tai and Logan who completed it first, securing their place at the final Pit Stop, Bangkok Central Railway Station.

In typical fashion, the brothers celebrated their win with a signature ‘shoey’ – or “shoeyvasa” – drinking from host Beau Ryan’s shoes.

Competing for the Sydney Region Aboriginal Corporation, the pair expressed their excitement about what the prize money would mean for their charity. SRAC is a community-driven organisation focused on improving the wellbeing of Aboriginal people in Western Sydney. Tai noted,

“It’s going to be awesome, [SRAC] does a lot of work with kids from the area, from Western Sydney, and they take a lot of football gear and stuff out to the Aboriginal communities, hand them out and do football days.”

“I’m really looking forward to seeing where they get to now, and how far out in the community they can reach. That’s really important to me so I’m pumped about that.”
