Prime Video has released first-look images for the highly-anticipated romantic comedy series Top End Bub, set to premiere in 2025. The eight-part series is a follow-up to the 2019 hit film Top End Wedding, which garnered significant acclaim.

Building on Prime Video’s growing slate of Australian Originals, Top End Bub sees the return of familiar faces. Miranda Tapsell (Love Child, The Sapphires, The Artful Dodger) reprises her role as Lauren, alongside Gwilym Lee (Bohemian Rhapsody, The Great) as her husband Ned.

Also returning from the original cast are Ursula Yovich as Daffy and Huw Higginson as Trevor, Lauren’s parents, as well as Shari Sebbens as Ronelle, Elaine Crombie as Dana, and Tracy Mann as Annie, Ned’s mother. Joining the ensemble is Rob Collins, Brooke Satchwell, Guy Simon, Clarence Ryan, and newcomer Gladys-May Kelly, who makes her acting debut as Taya, the ‘Bub’ of the series title.

The series was created, written, and executive produced by Joshua Tyler and Miranda Tapsell, with production handled by Goalpost Pictures. Rosemary Blight serves as executive producer, with Christian Van Vuuren and Shari Sebbens directing the episodes. Filming took place across the Northern Territory and Adelaide, with the production supported by Screen Australia, Screen Territory, and the South Australian Film Corporation. International distribution will be managed by ZDF Studios.

Top End Bub continues the story of Lauren, a vibrant Indigenous lawyer based in Adelaide. Her seemingly perfect life with her husband Ned, who delights her with his fresh croissants, takes an unexpected turn when they are thrust into the role of parents.

After the sudden passing of Lauren’s eight-year-old niece, the couple relocates to the Top End, a place where the outback meets the tropics, to raise the child. As they adjust to their new responsibilities, Lauren is forced to balance her cultural obligations with the demands of her new life, evolving from a self-focused professional to the central figure of her family.
