Samantha Armytage now appears certain to appear on Channel 9 in 2025 as the host of The Golden Bachelor Australia
The Daily Telegraph is reporting Samantha Armytage has now formally signed a contract with Channel 9 that will see her host the highly anticipated new reality show, The Golden Bachelor, slated for 2025.
TV Blackbox was the first to exclusively reveal Channel 9 is gearing up to bring The Golden Bachelor format to Australian audiences next year. With respected entertainment journalist Peter Ford the first to put forward Armytage as the host of the new reality series.
Armytage, who has been a fixture at Channel 7 for over two decades, recently announced her decision to leave the network, with her contract officially expiring in October.
Over the years, Armytage has helmed a number of high-profile shows, including Sunrise and Farmer Wants A Wife. Her potential move to Channel 9 could signal a significant shift in her television career.
The original Golden Bachelor premiered on ABC in the United States, where it proved to be a major success. The show reimagined the popular Bachelor franchise by featuring a 72-year-old widower, Gerry Turner, as its lead.
The season finale, which aired in December, drew in an impressive 6.1 million viewers in the US – the highest-rated Bachelor episode in three years. The popularity of the series even led to a follow-up live special, The Golden Wedding, although the couple’s marriage ended in divorce three months later.
Channel 9’s decision to pursue the Golden Bachelor format comes after Channel 10 failed to renew its output deal with Warner Bros Studios, which included all iterations of The Bachelor franchise, as well as popular reality series The Masked Singer.
