Earth Abides arrives on Stan 2 December. Don’t miss this gripping sci-fi series about survival after a global plague, starring Alexander Ludwig and Jessica Frances Dukes.
The highly anticipated science fiction drama series, Earth Abides, is set to make its Australian debut on Stan on 2 December, coinciding with its U.S. premiere.
The series features Alexander Ludwig (known for The Hunger Games and Vikings) and Jessica Frances Dukes (Ozark), and comes from showrunner Todd Komarnicki, who previously worked on Sully.
Adapted from the 1949 novel by George R. Stewart, Earth Abides explores the aftermath of a devastating global plague. This catastrophic event wipes out nearly all of humanity, leaving only a handful of survivors to grapple with a crumbling civilisation.
As societal systems collapse, the few remaining must confront the challenge of survival in an increasingly hostile world, where the threat of extinction looms large.
The original novel, published by Harper Voyager, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, has been regarded as a seminal work in post-apocalyptic literature. The television adaptation brings together a seasoned production team, including Kearie Peak (American History X) and Academy Award®-winner Michael Phillips (The Sting), who serve as executive producers alongside Juliana Maio.
Komarnicki leads the writing team for the series, with contributions from Karen Janszen, Tony Spiridakis, Evan Hart, and Kyle Stephen. The series’ directorial duties are shared across several episodes, with Bronwen Hughes set to helm the first two episodes, followed by Rachel Leiterman for episodes three and four, and Stephen Campanelli directing episodes five and six.
Produced by MGM+ Studios and distributed globally by Amazon MGM Studios Distribution, Earth Abides is poised to captivate viewers with its exploration of human resilience and the fragility of modern society.
