MKR Recap – Simone and Viviana made MKR history with the highest Instant Restaurant score ever. Find out how they wowed the judges!
Simone and Viviana made history on My Kitchen Rules (MKR) last night, delivering the highest Instant Restaurant score in the show’s 14-year run.
The best friends and modern Italian cooks stunned with a near-flawless performance, earning an unprecedented 104 out of 110 points, including a remarkable 58 out of 60 from judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge.
Returning to the competition after their previous dessert mishap, the duo showcased precision, innovation, and refined technique, far surpassing their own expectations.
Their menu opened with a bold take on a French classic – Beef Tartare with Crumbed Yolk and Crostini. Substituting lasagne sheets for bread and adding apple to the tartare brought a fresh twist, which deeply impressed the judges.
Manu, a lover of traditional French cuisine, admitted:
“I’m a classic guy when it comes to French food. Why apple? Why have I not thought about this before? It is clever.”
Colin echoed the sentiment, saying he “loved the apple with the beef.”
The standout of the evening was the main course: Prawn and Potato Ravioli with Prawn Bisque, an original creation by Simone. The dish left everyone at the table in awe, with Manu declaring it the “best dish” in MKR history. Simone was left speechless, while Viviana beamed with pride for her friend.
Manu had initially doubted the inclusion of potato in the ravioli but quickly acknowledged its brilliance:
“I am jealous of people like you that can make pasta like this because I can’t.”
Colin added his praise:
“It’s not a normal dish, but I tell you, after today, it should be.”
The evening’s final triumph came with their dessert, Millefoglie, a delicate puff pastry layered with cream. Despite the challenge of executing such a complex dish, Simone and Viviana nailed it, with Colin calling it “the crown on the meal we got tonight. You should be so proud of yourselves.”
The emotional response from the pair was palpable, as Viviana, through tears, expressed:
“This is the best critique we could possibly get. It means the world to us.”
Simone, overwhelmed, added:
“I feel like this is the highest emotion that I felt in my life. Thank you.”
While the food made history, tensions at the table reached boiling point. Janey and Lawrence reignited their feud from the previous Instant Restaurant. Janey called Lawrence out for labelling her arrogant, which he clarified as a misunderstanding.
As daughter Maddie stepped in to defend her mother, Pete tried to mediate, reminding the group:
“No matter what has been said. One thing I’m pretty sure of is that a daughter doesn’t want to see her mother feel like she’s attacked. How about we have a bit of a reset, and we go for something lighter.”
Though close to storming off, Janey ultimately remained, conceding:
“It’s not the Lawrence show. It’s My Kitchen Rules. Keep the stirring for the kitchen.”
