Find out who won The Block bathroom judging and how secret tensions are brewing between teams after the latest episode.

Sunday night’s episode of The Block centred around the ongoing fallout from Maddy and Charlotte’s secret past in house flipping, which was exposed after Haydn’s wife Chelsea stumbled upon some online videos.

The sisters had kept this information from most of the contestants, claiming to be accountants, a tactic not unfamiliar in the world of The Block, where withholding information can sometimes offer a competitive edge.

However, they had revealed their past to Mimi two weeks ago, but it appears that detail has since slipped her mind. Despite Haydn confronting the pair about the discovery, they shrugged off the accusation, though suspicion lingers among the other contestants.

Amidst the drama, a Ford basketball challenge was announced for Saturday. The timing wasn’t ideal, as the teams were scrambling to complete their bathroom ensuites. Ricky and Haydn managed to secure the challenge win, adding a rare moment of triumph to their otherwise tense week.

Tensions were particularly high between Maddy and Charlotte, who had a heated argument when Maddy spent what Charlotte thought was too much time away shopping instead of helping finish their bathroom. As the pressure mounted, many teams were forced to pull all-nighters to finish their rooms in time for Scotty to call “tools down.”

The Bathroom Judging:

  1. House No.1: Maddy and Charlotte
    Budget: $19,660
The judges were highly impressed with the sisters’ use of a neutral palette, describing their off-white scheme as both simple and effective. Shaynna Blaze even coined a new term to describe their approach: Classic Simplicity. This was the first room entirely designed and executed by the sisters, and it paid off handsomely.
  2. House No.2: Courtney and Grant
    Budget: $27,595
The judges were divided on this bathroom. Marty Fox thought the design was excessive, while Shaynna and Darren Palmer found it to be a showstopper. However, both Shaynna and Marty agreed the layout was poorly planned, feeling the space was too large for a bathroom.
  3. House No.3: Ricky and Haydn
    Budget: $33,112
This week marked a noticeable improvement for the pair. The judges enjoyed the continuation of their circular design theme, which they felt evoked a strong Phillip Island vibe. While the yellows in the room – from the walls to the tiles – could have been more refined, overall it was considered a solid effort.
  4. House No.4: Kylie and Brad
    Budget: $28,148
Darren admired the bold, unique approach taken by Kylie and Brad, describing it as exactly what the duo should be doing. However, Marty wasn’t sold on the timber-look tiles, and Shaynna found herself sitting somewhere in between, neither loving nor hating the design.
  5. House No.5: Kristian and Mimi
    Budget: $27,720
Marty was pleased with the couple’s clean, marketable bathroom, but Shaynna felt it was too similar to their previous designs. The judges all agreed that while the room had potential, the overall execution, particularly in the finishes, was lacking.

The Scores:

Despite the tension and challenges, Maddy and Charlotte emerged victorious. Their sleek, understated bathroom won them praise from all three judges. However, the win wasn’t met with universal approval. While most contestants congratulated the sisters, Kylie and Brad chose not to, further fuelling the brewing rivalry between the two teams.
