Tony and Judy’s marriage is fracturing, compounded by their opposing views on a power strike gripping the town. Their youngest daughter, Mia, is spiralling out of control, while eldest daughter, Tilly, dreams of life beyond Earth.

The Biu family faces the harrowing uncertainty surrounding their son’s health, while the Wilberforce family confronts societal prejudice. Tony’s brother Mick embarks on a secretive relationship with a Soviet contestant, adding Cold War intrigue to the story.

Set in the Dust Bowl era of the 1930s, Hold Your Breath is a tense drama centred on the Bellum family. Margaret, portrayed by Sarah Paulson, is left to manage their farm with her two daughters, Rose (Amiah Miller) and Ollie (Alona Jane Robbins), after her husband leaves in search of work.

The family battles harsh environmental conditions, but their lives are thrown into disarray with the arrival of a mysterious stranger (Ebon Moss-Bachrach).
