Blanchett plays Catherine Ravenscroft, a journalist who has built her career on exposing the misdeeds of others. When an anonymous author sends her a novel, she is horrified to find it reveals deeply personal secrets from her past. As Catherine scrambles to find the author and stop the fallout, she faces a devastating confrontation with her own history. The ensemble cast also includes Sacha Baron Cohen, Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

The Last of the Sea Women

Friday 11 October

This moving documentary sheds light on the haenyeo, an extraordinary group of elderly women from Jeju Island, South Korea, renowned for their free-diving abilities. Without oxygen tanks, these women have been diving to the ocean floor for centuries to harvest seafood, a tradition now threatened by environmental changes and an ageing population. The Last of the Sea Women captures the efforts of these resilient women, many of whom are in their 60s and 70s, as they fight to preserve their way of life while mentoring younger divers through the power of social media. This powerful documentary highlights themes of female empowerment, cultural preservation, and environmental activism.

Shrinking

Wednesday 16 October

Returning for its second season, Shrinking continues the story of a therapist grappling with his grief. Played by Jason Segel, the therapist starts abandoning conventional therapeutic practices, telling his clients exactly what he thinks in an effort to change their lives. His newfound bluntness, while cathartic, leads to unexpected and chaotic outcomes, both in his patients’ lives and his own. The series combines humour and heart, exploring the complexities of mental health, grief, and human relationships.

Tú También Lo Harías (“You Would Do It Too”)

Wednesday 30 October

Set in the aftermath of a deadly bus robbery near Barcelona, Tú También Lo Harías (translated as “You Would Do It Too”) is a fast-paced thriller that follows the investigation into the deaths of three robbers. With six survivors offering inconsistent accounts of the event, detectives — who are also former lovers — must untangle the contradictory timelines to uncover the truth. As the pressure mounts, the series examines the complexities of perception and the lengths people will go to protect their own version of reality.

This October, Apple TV+ offers an intriguing mix of dark comedy, psychological thrillers, family dramas, and inspiring documentaries, ensuring there is something for every type of viewer.
