Simple, affordable recipes await in Alice Zaslavsky’s ABC cooking series A Bite to Eat, airing weeknights from October 28.
The ABC is set to debut a new nightly cooking show, A Bite to Eat with Alice, on Monday, 28 October, airing at 6pm on ABC TV and available for streaming on ABC iview.
The series will be hosted by renowned culinary expert Alice Zaslavsky, widely known for her work as a cook, author, and radio presenter, as well as her role as the long-standing food correspondent on ABC News Breakfast.
The show aims to inspire viewers with simple, fresh recipes that focus on accessible, affordable ingredients, with a goal to encourage more confidence in home cooking across Australian households.
In each episode, Zaslavsky will be joined by a guest from a variety of backgrounds, including familiar faces such as actress Pia Miranda, comedian Dilruk Jayasinha, singer Anthony Callea, and celebrated Australian food figure Stephanie Alexander. Guests will share their personal stories, while also bringing a favourite ingredient for Zaslavsky to transform into a meal.
The show will also feature a segment in which Zaslavsky attempts to change her guest’s mind about an ingredient they dislike or struggle to cook, offering practical solutions to common food dilemmas.
Commenting on the upcoming series, Zaslavsky expressed her excitement:
“I’m thrilled to be bringing Australian households even more inspiration in the kitchen and in life, welcoming some of Australia’s most interesting people into Southbank’s Studio 32.
This program’s pillars, of sustainability, accessibility, and authentic connection, will provide warm and wonder-filled viewing, weeknights at 6.”
After nearly a decade as the resident “Food Guru” on ABC Local Radio and ABC News Breakfast, Zaslavsky is well-known for her approachable style and focus on sustainable, wholesome cooking.
The program builds on the ABC’s legacy of quality cooking shows, following in the footsteps of popular series such as The Cook & The Chef with Maggie Beer and Simon Bryant, and Poh’s Kitchen. A Bite to Eat with Alice is poised to become a new favourite among Australian food lovers.
The series is an original format developed and commissioned by the ABC, with Rachel Robinson and Mish Armstrong serving as executive producers and Jacqueline Tonks as series producer. ABC Commercial will handle international distribution.
