A junior staff complaint has led to Nine launching a formal investigation into a reported altercation involving Georgie Gardner.
Nine has initiated an internal investigation after a complaint was lodged by a junior staff member concerning an alleged on-set incident involving prominent newsreader Georgie Gardner.
According to a report by The Sunday Telegraph, the network’s inquiry was triggered following claims of a heated exchange after Gardner finished delivering a news bulletin last month. The complaint, which came from a junior member of the team, prompted the network to undertake a formal review of the situation.
An insider from Nine News telling the newspaper, “It is the talk of the newsroom at the moment,” highlighting the ongoing discussions among staff regarding the alleged confrontation.
When approached for a response, Gardner did not comment on the incident, declining to answer The Sunday Telegraph’s inquiries.
Nine has also remained tight-lipped on the specifics of the situation. Instead, a statement was released by Fiona Dear, Nine’s Director of News and Current Affairs, who said:
“Georgie Gardner is a highly regarded longstanding member of our Nine News team. We offer no further comment.”
Following the alleged incident, Gardner was absent from her on-air duties for two weeks, with the network attributing her time away to “scheduled leave.” She returned to her usual role, presenting the news on Friday and Saturday night.
At this stage, Nine has provided no further details regarding the progress or potential outcomes of the investigation.

On one hand… from experience …. Georgie is hard to work with. Not there to make friends. Georgie likes things done right and lets you know straight away if it is not.
On the other, if you cop an earful from an experienced broadcast talent and you keep your job. Take the critique, learn from it and move on.
