The Office returns with an Australian twist! Felicity Ward leads the cast in this new adaptation, this October on Prime Video.
Prime Video has announced that the highly anticipated Australian adaptation of the global hit The Office will premiere on 18 October.
This new version marks the thirteenth iteration of the franchise and introduces the first female lead in the show’s history, with comedian and actor Felicity Ward (Time Bandits, Wakefield, The Inbetweeners 2) taking on the role of Hannah Howard, the Managing Director of the fictional packaging company, Flinley Craddick.
All eight episodes of the series will be made available exclusively on Prime Video to subscribers in 240 countries and territories (excluding the United States) as part of the platform’s Prime membership, which bundles entertainment, convenience, and savings under a single subscription.
The Australian version of The Office revolves around Hannah Howard as she learns that head office plans to shut down her branch and transition staff to remote work.
Determined to keep her “work family” together, Hannah resorts to desperate measures, making outlandish promises that she may not be able to fulfill. The employees of Flinley Craddick, in turn, must navigate her increasingly bizarre schemes while grappling with the unrealistic targets imposed on them.

In tandem with the premiere announcement, Prime Video also released a first-look image showcasing the ensemble cast, which features prominent Australian and New Zealand comedic talents.
Alongside Ward, the cast includes Edith Poor (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Power of the Dog), Steen Raskopoulos (The Duchess, Feel Good), Shari Sebbens (The Sapphires, Thor: Love and Thunder), Josh Thomson (How to Please a Woman, Young Rock), and Jonny Brugh (Thor: Love and Thunder, What We Do in the Shadows). The cast is rounded out by Susan Ling Young (Reckoning, Hungry Ghosts), Raj Labade (Appetite), Lucy Schmidt (The Pledge), Zoe Terakes (Talk To Me, Nine Perfect Strangers), Pallavi Sharda (The Twelve), and Claude Jabbour (Last King of the Cross, Stateless).
Additional guest roles will feature Susie Youssef (Deadloch, Rosehaven), Justin Rosniak (Mr Inbetween, Last King of the Cross), Carlo Ritchie (Mikki vs the World), Rick Donald (Population 11, Wentworth), and Chris Bunton (Relic, Wolf Like Me).
Over two decades have passed since the original The Office—created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant—first introduced audiences to its unique brand of workplace humour. While the dynamics of the workplace have evolved considerably, particularly post-2020, the physical office setting remains a fertile ground for comedy.
This enduring appeal has fuelled the show’s expansion into various international markets, with adaptations in France, Canada, Chile, Israel, India, the Middle East, and Poland, where a third season has just been commissioned. The Australian adaptation is the latest in this long line of global remakes.
The eight-part series is a collaboration between BBC Studios Australia & New Zealand, Bunya Entertainment, and Amazon MGM Studios, based on the original BBC Studios format. The show was adapted for Australian audiences by writers Julie De Fina (Aftertaste) and Jackie van Beek (The Breaker Upperers, Nude Tuesday), both of whom serve as executive producers.
Other key production figures include executive producer Kylie Washington (Return to Paradise), lead producer Sophia Zachariou (Ladies in Black, The Moth Effect), and producer Linda Micsko (The Letdown, Laid). Van Beek also serves as the set-up director alongside directors Christiaan Van Vuuren (Bondi Hipsters, A Sunburnt Christmas) and Jesse Griffin (Educators), who also contributed as a writer on the series.
