Channel 10 tries to change the narrative and NETFLIX goes too far.
DESPERATELY SEEKING CONTENT
A big congratulations to the spinners at 10 this week for trying to change the narrative about the beleaguered network.
There is a lot of concern over its future as parent company Paramount Global looks to sell. It’s not known what will happen to Australia’s fourth-ranked network in the fallout of a sale.
So, after announcing that The Masked Singer and The Bachelor(s) would not return, the network issued a press release touting its lineup for the remainder of the year. And yes, I’ll remind you again I told you if The Masked Singer goes so does The Bachelor(s)!
The standout would have to be Hunted Australia: The Million Dollar Heist, although can anyone actually walk away with $1m? I doubt it, but I’m still here for it.
A new series of Shark Tank… meh, more Dessert Masters (did anyone watch the first series?) and Wheel Of Fortune does not invoke confidence.
But 10’s 8.30/9.00pm programming is second-to-none. Have You Been Paying Attention, The Cheap Seats and Gogglebox have become my late-night viewing habits. I’ve been saying for a long time the other networks are falling behind here and 10 is doing a great job of giving me a laugh before going to bed.
MORE PLEASE!
GOODBYE NETFLIX
I upset the family this past weekend by announcing I have cancelled my NETFLIX subscription.
Sorry, but it’s just not worth the latest price hike to $25.99. That’s an extra $3 per month on top of all the other price hikes.
To be fair, there is a lot of content my family watches on the streamer, but we’re going to start dipping in and out when there are new shows we’re keen on.
I’ve never been one to do this, but Netflix has prompted me to start doing it.
Like many other Australians, I’m not just going to pay for a full year – I’m going to be smarter with my money.
That’s what happens when you get too greedy – people start looking elsewhere.
DOCTOR DISNEY
It’s been so weird being able to watch Doctor Who on Disney+ every Saturday morning at the same time as the rest of the world.
I wasn’t sold on the first two episodes, but enjoyed them more on the second watch.
Episode 3 – ‘Boom’ – was terrific and really made me love this Doctor and Ruby more (although I wasn’t keen on the tears).
At times I can see the bigger budget but most of the time there’s not that much difference from the BBC version of the show.
It’s good to have it back though.

I agree and have also cancelled Netflix
I am looking forward to NCIS Sydney airing on 10 on Wednesday nights.
It sucks that NCIS Hawaii has been cancelled by CBS.
I don’t use streaming services so am missing out on Doctor Who and The Simpson’s, but I am surviving.
I do miss my weekly dose of Rob on a Tuesday.
