Over the weekend, Channel 9 debuted their new Canberra studios on-air during Weekend Today.

The network made use of the new set based at Parliament House in Canberra for Policitor Editor Charles Croucher to interview Treasure Jim Chalmers ahead of the budget being handed down tomorrow night.

The newly launched studio is a replica of 9 News sets seen around the country in all major states including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

The new studios come as the network reportedly repurposed existing space within their Canberra bureau at Parliament House which is home for Nine’s television, online and print publications.

Slightly different sets are seen in other major areas that Nine operate local news services to, including NBN News which mainly covers the Newcastle & Hunter region, as well as 9 News Gold Coast.

It’s likely the new studios will allow greater flexibility for the network to host and produce live coverage from Canberra in future, and may be seen during tomorrow night’s special Federal Budget coverage.

Special coverage of the Federal Budget, breaking down the winners and losers, impact on interest rates, inflation and what it means for all Australians. Hosted by Peter Overton, with expert analysis from Charles Croucher and Chris Kohler.
