In an exciting move for women’s rugby league, Nine’s Wide World of Sports is celebrating becoming the new home for the NRLW.

From Saturday, July 22, all 48 games of the competition will be broadcast live and free on the 9Network and will be available for streaming on 9Now.

This marks a significant shift for the sport, with this season being the first where every game can be viewed for free on the nation’s most far-reaching platform.

The forthcoming season of the NRLW is set to be a historic one, with the most games ever played in the competition’s history. The season will also see the Cronulla Sharks, Canberra Raiders, North Queensland Cowboys, and Wests Tigers join the ranks, swelling the NRLW’s line-up to 10 clubs.

Opening day promises a thrilling triple-header as new Queensland entrants, the Titans and Cowboys, make their debut. Defending premiers, the Knights, will play at home against the Dragons, and a heavyweight clash between the Broncos and Roosters will also take place.

Nine has assembled a star-studded commentary team for the 2023 NRLW season.

Among the line-up are former Jillaroos Ruan Sims and Allana Ferguson, hosts Emma Lawrence, Danika Mason, and newcomer Marlee Silva.

Roosters captain Millie Boyle will also lend her insight, backed by the entire Wide World of Sports rugby league team.

In anticipation of the season, Boyle expressed her excitement about the expanded schedule and the accessibility of the games. She highlighted the exciting changes in club rosters and predicted a fiercely contested season. She also expressed hope that the increased visibility and growth of the women’s game would inspire the next generation of NRLW stars.

The broadcast schedule of the NRLW season includes four Saturday triple-headers, regular Sunday double-headers, three prime-time games on Channel 9HD, and two stand-alone Thursday night games during the 2023 NRL finals series. Beginning in August, Nine will offer nine free-to-air games weekly across the NRL and NRLW.

Further demonstrating its commitment to the sport, Wide World of Sports will launch a dedicated women’s rugby league show, NRLW Wrap, which will air on Channel 9 and 9Now. The network will also host a weekly NRLW podcast, NRLW Weekly, featuring Ruan Sims and Marlee Silva.

The move to broadcast all NRLW games for free marks a significant step forward for the sport and promises to bring a thrilling season of women’s rugby league to a broader audience.
