As the NRL community unites to combat brain cancer, the Beanie Round is set to thrill audiences with three dynamic matches, starting Thursday at 7:30pm on 9Network and 9Now.

In a bid to increase survival rates, which have only seen a marginal one per cent increase over the past 35 years, the Mark Hughes Foundation has set an ambitious target of raising $3.5 million this week for brain cancer research. Rugby fans are being urged to show their support by purchasing a special beanie.

The local rivalry between the Sharks and Dragons will kick off the Beanie Round on Thursday night at Shark Park, located in the Sutherland Shire. The focus will be on Dragons captain Ben Hunt, who has had a turbulent week in the news. Despite this, the Sharks, led by Nicho Hynes, are expected to show no leniency in their battle against their neighbouring rivals.

In what is being touted as the game of the round, the Storm and Panthers will face off on Friday Night Footy, with both teams welcoming back their Origin stars for this highly-anticipated top-of-the-table clash. Among those named for the game are Cameron Munster, Brian To’o, Stephen Crichton, and Liam Martin, with Melbourne viewers able to watch the action unfold on Channel 9.

The fate of both the Manly Sea Eagles and the Sydney Roosters hangs in the balance as they square off in a crucial Sunday afternoon match. This pivotal encounter could decide the future of the losing team in what has been one of the most competitive seasons in recent memory. Sea Eagles’ stalwart Jake Trbojevic is set to make a much-anticipated return from injury, while the Roosters are set to be bolstered by the return of young talent Joseph Sua’ali’i.

Fans can also look forward to pre-game coverage from 3.00pm when the Mark Hughes Foundation’s 150-kilometre fundraising walk from Newcastle to Brookvale for brain cancer awareness arrives at the ground.
