One of the greatest rivalries in Australian sport, the State of Origin, is set to reignite live, exclusive, and free on Channel 9HD and 9Now, Wednesday, May 31, at 7.00pm AEST.

Last year, Billy Slater’s Queensland Maroons secured the shield following an incredibly intense ending, adding another chapter to the long-standing Origin history. This year, however, Brad Fittler’s New South Wales Blues are on a mission to claim the title, launching their campaign in Adelaide.

Big names in the game are returning to the Blues, including James Tedesco, Latrell Mitchell, Josh Addo-Carr, and Tom “Turbo” Trbojevic. Queensland, on the other hand, welcomes new addition Reece Walsh, joining Daly Cherry-Evans, Cameron Munster, and last year’s Origin hero, Ben Hunt.

Wide World of Sports will provide comprehensive coverage of the event, hosted by James Bracey and featuring numerous legends from modern rugby league history, including Andrew Johns, Cameron Smith, Johnathan Thurston, Phil Gould, Darren Lockyer, Paul Vautin, and Paul Gallen.

Danika Mason will deliver the latest news leading up to kick-off, while Allana Ferguson will examine the key match-ups. Commentary will be provided by Mathew Thompson, along with NSW and Queensland representatives Andrew Johns and Cameron Smith.

Adding an extra layer of access, Channel 9 will provide live coverage from both Origin coaches, Billy Slater and Brad Fittler. Viewers will be offered unprecedented insights with exclusive content from additional cameras on team buses, in dressing rooms, and private team meetings.

The broadcast will involve more than 60 cameras, over 140 crew members, and a commentary team with a combined total of 275 Origin games and 42 coached games. The match will be broadcast to more than 50 countries worldwide.

Additional streaming options on 9Now will include three second-screen streams, focusing on ‘Trell-evision’ for NSW’s Latrell Mitchell, Reece Walsh for QLD, and an eagle-eye view from the Spidercam.

After the game, a 20-minute 9Now mini-match will break down all the key moments.
