The veteran reporter will be seen on a different TV network this week.
Former 60 Minutes reporter Charles Wooley will be seen on Channel 7 this week, going up against his old team.
TV Blackbox understands Wooley’s contract was not renewed in 2019, although there were discussions with him about appearing on the show occasionally.
Despite being well-liked at Nine, that was not to be.
Now Wooley is back on 7News Spotlight with a story about the Tarkine rainforest in Tasmania and the threat it faces from a Chinese Mining company wanting to expand.
Speaking about his decision to do this story with 7News Spotlight, Charles Wooley says:
“Of all the stories, this one is closest to my heart”.
Executive Producer Mark Llewellyn seems thrilled to be tapping into Wooley’s wealth of experience, telling TV Blackbox:
Charles Wooley taught me how to write long form television current affairs. The bloke – Â my great mate – is a story-telling genius.
But more than that he passionately cares about people and the world the we live in. There was only one person to tell this amazing story of hidden part of Australia which needs to be protected from those who would destroy it.
I am so grateful he came on board for this; his most personal story yet.
