Free-To-Air viewers in Victoria are set to miss out on an opportunity to see their leaders debate the key issues ahead of the upcoming State Election on November 26.
TV Blackbox can now confirm the Victorian Labor party has formally rejected a proposal from Channel 9 that would have seen leaders Dan Andrews and Matt Guy come together for a televised debate.
The Channel 9 proposal was to have been moderated by newsreader Alicia Loxley with questions put forward by The Age state political editor Annika Smethurst, and 3AW drive presenter, Tom Elliott.
The decision to reject a free-to-air debate comes after the two parties recently agreed to instead participate in a People Forum event which will be telecast on the News Corp owned Sky News platform.
Sky News Australia Chief News Anchor Kieran Gilbert will present the one-hour forum which will see 100 undecided voters provide the opportunity to put questions directly to the two leaders on their vision for Victoria.
The Sky News event will be held in the final week of the campaign and will be be live-streamed at SkyNews.com.au, and to Herald Sun subscribers at heraldsun.com.au
