Across five episodes, icons in music and screen join Double J host Zan Rowe in the new series Take 5 to delve deep into intimate moments in their lives as they share five songs they love.
First up with Zan is Guy Pearce.
Guy is a commanding actor but his first love is music. As well as being a mega fan, Guy is also a recording artist with two albums under his belt.
“Writing music and expressing yourself through music that’s what makes sense to me. That’s why I do it.”
In a life that’s been filled with opportunity as well as professional and personal triumphs and challenges Guy shares his track list of the brilliant and often surprising songs.
In this episode Guy reflects on a time of personal tragedy when at age eight, he lost his father in a plane crash. Guy lets us into this moment through a song by Kate Bush.
“It’s always really undone me. It reminds me of what my mother went through when my father went on that flight he never came back from.”

Guy Pearce is so refreshingly open and unpretentious. His interview matched his honesty as an actor. However, Zan Rowe was cringe-makingly wet and out of her depth. She used her role to be an adoring fan. Embarrassing. Full marks to Guy for surviving the interview and keeping it engaging!
