BIRMINGHAM 2022 delivers record breaking COMMONWEALTH GAMES audiences for 7PLUS

The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games has proved to be a success for the Seven Network with the tournament delivering strong audience figures via free-to-air and breaking streaming records on 7plus.

Birmingham 2022 is up 165 percent in BVOD and 86 percent in live streaming on 7plus compared to the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

As Australian audiences continue to adopt online platforms at a dramatic rate, Birmingham 2022 has streamed 294 million minutes in its first week, which is 81% more Commonwealth Games minutes than the entire Gold Coast 2018.

7plus has a commanding 62.5 percent commercial broadcast share in live streaming and a 50.8 percent commercial share in BVOD over the first seven days of the tournament, and is up 113 percent in BVOD and 184 percent in live streaming.

The Games night session has averaged 968,000 total viewers, including 26,000 on BVOD, and ranks first in its timeslot in total people, 25-54s, and 16-39s.

Across the first week of the games, Seven was the number one network in total people nationally and across the capital cities, with a 49.6 percent commercial share nationally, a 45.5 percent commercial share in the 25 to 54 age group, and a 16 to 39 age group (47.9 percent ). Seven is up 38% week on week in total people, 46% in the 25-54 age group, and 54% in the 16-39 age group.

The Commonwealth Games are especially popular with younger viewers on 7plus, with Virtual Australia (VOZ) data showing that 19 percent of people aged 18 to 39 watched the sporting action exclusively on 7plus, resulting in a 23 percent increase in audience reach on broadcast over the first five days.

So far in the OzTAM 2022 survey year, Seven Network is number one nationally, number one in capital cities, and number one in the 16 to 39 age group.
