10’s decision to take Pilot Week off the main channel and move it to streaming platform 10play has failed to attract an audience.
Back in 2018 when Network 10 launched a concept called Pilot Week it was an impressive innovation.
The network devoted a week of television to showcasing new programming and the concept created buzz within the TV industry.
But it was hard for those programs to cut through with casual viewers and create ‘noise’ as the shows selected were programmed at different times throughout the week.
There wasn’t a single destination for viewers to be able to watch the experiment each night.
Fast forward to 2022 and it would appear 10 has killed off the concept by making it an online-only proposition.
TV Blackbox can reveal the biggest show from 10’s newly-named Pilot Showcase has had a grand total of 30,914 views for its biggest show since it launched on July 4.
The show to take out the top spot was the Courtney Act transformation/interview concept, Courtney’s Closet.
Compare that figure for an entire month with the overnight figure for Trial By Kyle, which took out 2018’s top spot with an overnight national audience 519,000.
In the four weeks since 10 made the programs available to the public, less than 100,000 views have been recorded for all shows combined (96,781 to be exact at time of printing).
Abbie Chatfield came second in the rankings with just under 23k views for her Abbie Chats pilot.
The Bush Blonde Vs The World was the least sampled show with a fraction over 7k views.
it would appear the biggest sample for each show happened on July 4 when 10 launched Pilot Showcase. The overnight figures show 23,206 views were recorded for all shows combined.
Interestingly, Abbie Chats had more views in the first 24 hours than Courtney’s Closet.
Here is the final tally for each show as at 3.07.22
- Courtney’s Closet (30,914)
- Abbie Chats (22,855)
- Dinner Guest (17,057)
- The Love Experiment (10,420)
- Time To Die (8,493)
- The Bush Blonde Vs The World (7,042)
Channel 10 did not respond to requests for comment about the numbers for Pilot Showcase and whether any programs would be commissioned.
