This Friday will mark the end of an important era in Television history with regional broadcasters Prime7 and GWN7 broadcasting their final local news bulletin under their own branding
TV Blackbox can confirm from Monday July 25 all local news bulletins and updates broadcast on the Prime7 and GWN7 regional networks will take on full 7News branding.
While viewers may notice the new logos and branding from Monday, all other aspects of the local news bulletins are expected to remain unchanged.
Prime7 currently produces five 30-minute bulletins for the Border, Central West, North West, North Coast and Wagga Wagga markets while GWN7 is the only broadcaster to produce a dedicated 30-minute bulletin for regional Western Australian viewers.
The change comes after the Seven Network completed an acquisition deal of its regional affiliate partner earlier this year.
As previously revealed by TV Blackbox, all Prime and GWN regional broadcast stations will take on full Seven branding in time for the network’s Commonwealth Games coverage.
Seven has also recently introduced a high-definition version of its 7mate multichannel for its regional stations.
… oddly enough it was 34 years ago next week that I first set eyes on a soccer pitch south of Wollongong which was to become home to the first new Prime TV station under the regional television aggregation legislation introduced by the Hawke government … just over eight months later we were on air with Prime Local News … now it’s a Bunnings !!
