The IndyCar Series returns to the streets of Toronto for the first time in two years with the paddock abuzz following the biggest bombshell of the season.

This week, Chip Ganassi Racing announced it had exercised its option to keep Alex Palou at the team for 2023. However, last year’s champion quickly denounced the statement and was quickly announced at McLaren. With the two teams at odds, it sets up a thrilling weekend with plenty of questions unanswered. With all eyes on Chip Ganassi Racing and McLaren, might it be an opportunity for another team to swoop?

The last time the series visited Toronto, it was Team Penske that came out on top with Simon Pagenaud. His successor Scott McLaughlin has momentum on his side with his second win of the season coming at Mid-Ohio.

The Captain’s men occupy second and third courtesy of Will Power and Josef Newgarden while McLaughlin has come up to seventh just behind countryman Scott Dixon. It’s still Marcus Ericsson who leads, however. The green flag will fly for Round 11 of the IndyCar Series at 05:20 AEST on Monday.

Can Kalle Rovanpera be caught? The Toyota pilot is in a rich vein of form heading into Rally Estonia, the seventh round of the FIA World Rally Championship. The 21-year-old has nearly twice as many points as his nearest rival courtesy of four wins from six events this season.

Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville and Ott Tanak have looked threatening. Neuville is winless this season while Tanak has had the edge taken off his one win with two DNFs. It’s a similar story for Ford’s Craig Breen and Rovanpera’s teammate Elfyn Evans. Both have shown glimpses of speed but have been dogged by finishes outside the points.

Of interest for antipodeans, New Zealand’s Hayden Paddon returns to the pinnacle of world rallying in the WRC2 division while Luke Anear makes his second start in the second division. Live coverage of Rally Estonia begins on Friday at 3:30am AEST, exclusively on Stan Sport.
