It was one of those nights when it’s not really worth trying to compete with the biggest game on TV…so you don’t.
All Origin, all the time on Nine. It started strong with State of Origin: Game 3 – Pre-match (835,000 – not on primary channel in PER), doubling down into State of Origin: Game 3 (1,792,000) which was only slightly less that the Game 2 figure. Expect those numbers to lift with a sizeable overnight BVOD number still to be delivered too. State of Origin: Game 3 – Post-match (706,000) keeps a strong audience who then largely vanish ahead of Travel Guides NZ (133,000).
Nine first in both primary (42.6%) and network (49.2%) rankings.
Home & Away (397,000) struggles on at 7pm for Seven yet still offers their best for the night. A repeat of Highway Patrol (278,000) doesn’t do much (fourth in the slot), and the network inexplicably persists with Britain’s Got Talent (174,000). A repeat of Inside Belmarsh Prison (57,000) completes a night of limited success after the News.
Seven second in both primary (12.7%) and network (18.2%) rankings.
7:30 (452,000) and Gruen (416,000) couple to land a very distant second in primetime for the ABC. This was followed by the season finale of The Weekly With Charlie Pickering (381,000) – down – and the season finale of You Can’t Ask That (256,000) – also down though marginally. Repeats of Would I Lie To You? (177,000) and Small Axe (24,000) receive little interest in the late night.
ABC third in both primary (9.9%) and network (13.3%) rankings.
10 continue the downward trend for everyone, with The Project (245,000 6:30pm; 360,000 7pm) sliding, a repeat of The Dog House Australia (311,000) drawing enough interest to land third in the slot, a very weak Five Bedrooms (175,000) and then a repeat of The Secret She Keeps (54,000) and Good Sam (34,000) vanishing in the late night.
10 fourth in both primary (7.2%) and network (11.8%) rankings.
A quieter night for SBS, delivering Michael Mosley’s 21 Day Body Challenge (106,000), Jack the Ripper (90,000) and Tour de France 2022: Stage 11 (134,000).
SBS fifth in both primary (4.7%) and network (7.5%) rankings.
