JOHANNA + PETE – AMAZING HOMES: THE COOGEE CASTLE

Joh and Pete have visited many of acclaimed architect Renato D’Ettorre’s homes through the years, but this Coogee mansion is the OG. This is where his signature style and material palette was born, with concrete chosen so it patinas over time, giving the impression of it blending with the weathered rock face it sits with. Inside it’s like a modern-medieval look, featuring geometric shapes and angles befitting a 21st century castle.

ADAM – CUSTOM DRUM MAKER

Australia is alive with its own burgeoning community of talented artisans, hand-building world-class instruments. Tonight, Adam meets one of them, Steele Turkington, whose drums are as good as his name. As an avid amateur drummer himself, Adam’s pretty happy to be shown around the workshop and learn how Steele not only restores old drums but also makes his own from scratch. Tune in and see why Steele’s drums are so highly rated, they’re good enough for midnight Oil!

KAREN – RAMEN NOODLES WITH SPICE BROTH

There’s nothing more comforting than a hot bowl of soupy ramen noodles. This week, Karen’s sharing her version, which is made with pork belly, soft-boiled eggs and gochujang, a spicy chilli paste popular in Korean cuisine. The result is utterly delicious.

FAST ED – LIGHTLY-SPICED CHICKEN, BACON, CHEESEBURGER PILAF

No one loves washing up, and Ed’s no different, so he’s showing you how to cook a pilaf with a chicken, bacon and cheeseburger twist… all in a one-pan dish. This recipe’s perfect for those picky teenagers who only eat fast food burgers. And if they won’t eat a rice dish, even if it has a crispy bacon garnish you can always put it between two buns.

FAST ED – PEAR AND APPLE BROWN BETTY AND SALTED BUTTERSCOTCH

Better Homes and Gardens wouldn’t be complete without a classic dessert by Ed and this one definitely qualifies as classic; it’s about 200 years old! Made from seasonal fruit and even leftover bread and then served with a butterscotch sauce and cream, this ancient crumble is perfect for a comfy night in.

CHARLIE – THE POWER OF NATURE

It is well proven that plants are more than just good for the soul. From improving productivity and wellbeing, to joining the fight against climate change, nature-based solutions have the power to make a real difference to our cities and our lives. Tonight, Charlie explores a few of the Junglefy Greenwall projects, the science behind the living breathing walls and meets some of the passionate team behind the scenes who are growing, nurturing and spreading the power of nature.

MELISSA – WORM FARMING

Got worms? Melissa thinks you should. Worm farming, also known as vermicomposting, is a home-gardener friendly means of using worms to produce your own garden fertiliser. Worm farms reduce your waste by eating your food scraps, so they make a great urban farming solution. Once your farm is in operation, you’ll never have to pay for fertiliser again!

DANIELLA – MINI OFFICE

With working from home the norm, a lot of us have been forced to work from the couch or our kitchen benches. Using furniture pieces and homewares, Dee creates a relaxed mini office that can be used as a stylish console table when it’s not being used for work.

JULIET – NATURAL RELFECTIONS

Feature mirrors can really make a space shine in your home, but unfortunately, they are often expensive. There is a way that we can make them affordable, however. Juliet shows you how to use twigs and leaves foraged from the garden and a few bit and pieces from the hardware/craft store to create our own stunning framed mirrors in many different styles, for a fraction of the price.

DR HARRY – CHEWER STAFFY

On the mid-north coast of NSW, Natalie and Molly have a problem, a four-legged problem. Esme the Staffy-Sharpei cross may look cute, but she’s chewed through everything from electrical cords to timber sleepers. When she got into some rat poison it was time get some help from Dr Harry. After a quick diagnosis, he has some solutions that will not only occupy Esme, but reward her for good behaviour; keeping everyone happy.
