The basketball action does not stop on ESPN, with three 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifiers involving the Australian Boomers live this week.

International basketball takes over ESPN, with the Australian Boomers journey to the 2023 FIBA World Cup intensifying with three crucial FIBA World Cup qualifiers – all LIVE on ESPN.

The qualification path resumes on Thursday June 30 as Australia take on China at Melbourne’s John Cain Arena, LIVE on ESPN at 6.30pm AEST.

Boomers coach Brian Goorjian has named a strong squad for the FIBA qualifiers, granting opportunities to a number of NBL stars.

Matthew Dellavedova, Jack White, Mitch McCarron, Todd Blanchfield, Keanu Pinder and Will McDowell White, join NBA G-League talent Thon Maker – with Pinder and McDowell White making their national team debuts.

Australia are currently undefeated in their 2023 FIBA World Cup qualification group, having won their first three matches.

Thursday’s opponents China have also not tasted defeat as yet in qualification, but the Boomers pose the toughest test of their FIBA World Cup pathway so far.

Australia will then back up on Friday evening to face Japan, with LIVE coverage from 7.30pm AEST on ESPN.

The Boomers already hold a victory over Japan in the qualification campaign, prevailing 80-64 back in February.

Sunday July 3 will see the Boomers conclude their three-match series, as they again face China for a second time in four days, with the action live at 6.30pm AEST.

Australian Basketball legend Andrew Gaze will join premier commentator John Casey to call all the action for all three 2023 FIBA World Cup matches.

The Boomers will hope the crucial three games series will solidify Australia as the superior team in Group B and have them firmly placed towards qualification for the 2023 FIBA Men’s World Cup.

ESPN is the only place to see the Australian Boomers’ path to the 2023 FIBA Men’s World Cup, along with the tournament, held in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines next year.

  • Friday July 1 – 7.30pm AEST, Australia vs Japan, ESPN
  • Sunday July 3 – 6.30pm AEST, Australia vs China, ESPN

ESPN and ESPN2 are available on Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Fetch TV and Sky NZ.
