There’s a lot riding on tonight’s Logies… join us for our live-running commentary.

*Keep refreshing the page for the latest…

11.28 – Hamish Blake has won the 2022 GOLD LOGIE after a very funny intro from Dave Hughes.

Earlier tonight Hamish said that if he were to win the Gold it would be because of one very key reason:

11.24 – Oh wow, it’s time for the GOLD LOGIE.

Earlier than expected tbh.

11.16 – The Newsreader takes out Outstanding Drama Series and the producer pays tribute to other shows trying to make television during the pandemic.

Nice.

11.13 – Very funny moment when Tim Minchin accept the award for Most Outstanding Actor on behalf of Richard Roxburgh who did not record a video message.

11.01 – It’s time for the Most Outstanding Actress just as the broadcast is MEANT to be coming to an end.

Anna Torv takes it out for The Newsreader. I loved her in that show.

10.56 – Osher working the room while he introduces Jessica Mauboy was actually fun… he could have gone a bit longer!

I always like it when we get to see who’s in the room.

10.44 – Journalists are a big target for haters on social media but when you see the nominees for Outstanding News Coverage or Public Affairs Report it shows the world-class people we have bringing us news every day – often at their own peril.

A surprise win for The Project with their Brittany Higgins interview. But you can’t argue with the fact this interview was one of the most important stories of our time and has changed the conversation in this country.

Ther Project deserves this one.

10.40 – Incarceration Nation wins Outstanding Factual or Documentary Program.

Congratulations!

10.38 – Big discussion happening on Twitter over whether the In Memorium should have been longer to accommodate the ‘leftovers’ with some saying I am wrong and there were just too many people.

I think it is a slap in the face

10.30 – A nice speech for Outstanding Supporting Actress by Heather Mitchell

10.21 – WHAT THE ACTUAL F#CK

Are they really relegating people to the ‘go to the website for more’ category?

The logies couldn’t fit everyone into the package tonight and directed viewers to the website

10.13 – It’s time for the In Memorium segment, introduced by Leigh Sales and music by Tim Minchin.

Always a moment that brings a moment of reflection to the room, but also a little awkward when some people get applause and others don’t.

I’m always shocked at the list of who has left us, especially this time after having no logies for two years.

This is really nicely done. Full credit to the production team on this one.

10.08 – Outstanding Mini-Series or Telemovie goes to Fires (ABC)

10.03 – Very happy to see Pete Smith!

9.58 – I’m going to give Dr Chris Brown and Gold Logie nominee Melissa Leong 10 points for their Popular Entertainment Program intro.

Funny and well thought out.

The mic coming down for her was a nice touch.

Gogglebox won the award. Deserved

9.57 – I will say, I really like the set this year.

9.50 – Mel B takes to the stage thinking ‘Where am I?”

She was’t even introduced as being from The Masked Singer. That’s a bit rough for 10 who have flown her out.

She’s here to introduce Calum Scott who I assumed I would recognise when he started singing.

I didn’t.

I don’t know the song and I don’t know him – and it’s not even a big rock-out song.

I guess better people than me knows what connects with the audience.

I’m off to the loo!

Callam Scott sings at the Logies and I still don’t know who he is

9.27 – Bruce McAvaney is inducted into the Hall of Fame and I reckon this is a brilliant choice!

And in the interests of balance, I think the package made for this is very good actually.

9.17 – Rove McManus and the Yellow Wiggle are presenting the Outstanding Children’s Program and oh boy it’s not funny.

Just give it to Bluey already!

Maybe I’m just getting tired?

I had so much hope…

9.13 – Gold Logie Nominee Tom Gleeson is presenting with Sophie Monk. A great combo… why not have Tom host next year?

Actually, have them both host next year.

Now that would be good TV!

They announce Guy Pearce as the winner of the Popular Actor award.

9.10 – Tony Armstrong wins the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent

This is Tony’s first time at the Logies, which he told me about on the red carpet.

9.08 – Neighbours tribute package is a bit… underwhelming.

Seriously, this is a show that has gone for decades and that’s the best you can do?

I just don’t get it, this was the moment the Logies could have shined with something amazing. Lost opportunity.

And before you say “Well you try making one and see how you do”, I present exhibit A – which I made.

It’s not that hard:

9.07 – I’ve always had an issue with those CONGRATULATIONS promos running in the same break the person has just won… it makes it look rigged… even though it’s not.

8.59 – The Project wins Popular Panel or Current Affairs Program with Lisa Wilkinson making a big point of thanking executives for backing the show ‘every single night’.

8.56 – Kitty Flanagan wins the Popular Actress award but Sam Pang accepts… he ALWAYS nails it!

8.50 – Hamish Blake wins the first Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter award.

Perfect.

Hamish Blake wins the very first Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter

8.43 – A lovely tribute to Bert Newton with some great TV moments.

This is the first Logies since his death and a new award has been named after him.

The Logies pays tribute to Bert Newton

His wife, Patti, spoke about the tribute with me earlier tonight.

8.35 – I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! wins Outstanding Reality Program.

This one is voted for by industry peers, not the public. It’s a huge production and deserves this award.

8.32 – Breakfast TV stars make banter look so easy… usually!

To be fair, things did get better between Ally and Sam Mac. they make a good couple – watch out Karl!

8.31 – The POV Logies was fun.

8.29 – Tony Martin announces Jackie Weaver has won Popular Actor/Actress International Program earlier today.

Seriously???

Just cut back on the number of awards if you have to do the ‘earlier today’ thing.

8.27 – The people in the room will be loving this performance by Jimmy Barnes. TBH the show needed something like this off the top.

Jimmy Barnes performing at the 2022 Logies

8.18 – Have You Been Paying Attention wins Popular Comedy Program. Sam Pang seemed annoyed by Ed’s speech but did manage to make a funny joke about Travel Guides being seated at the back of the room despite winning a Logie

8.15 – The Olympics on Seven wins Outstanding Sports Coverage

8.05 – MasterChef wins Popular Reality Program – well deserved.

Still can’t cop the voice overs – maybe I just can’t separate Sizzletown from the Logies vos – a reminder I LOVE Tony Martin

8.02 – Trust Hamish & Andy to deliver the goods with a fun sketch.

WHY WON’T THEY HOST THE ENTIRE CEREMONY???????

7.52 – Travel Guides wins Popular Lifestyle Program after a zinger from Chrissie Swan having a go at Karl Stefanovic for not turning up to rehearsal (he didn’t spend much time on the red carpet wither – avoided everyone)

7.48 – Home & Away wins Popular Drama Program.

This show just keeps going from strength to strength despite the tough times faced by others.

7.44 – Lego Masters wins Outstanding Entertainment or Comedy Program but there’s no Logie Award on stage to be accepted.

Awkward

Someone forgot to bring the Logie onto stage for Hamish Blake and Brickman

7.43 – A bit of fun with conductor John Forman playing a show tune, but Julia’s having none of it.

Fun, but doesn’t quite get there.

Julia Morris refuses to join the big number

7.38 – I’m aways a fan of when TV execs get a little tickle up by the host… fun to see the very camera shy Michael Healy (Channel 9 programming boss) get a close up!

Channel 9 programming boss Michael Healy gets a gentle ribbing by Julia Morris

7.36 – Julia Morris is delivering the opening monologue and it doesn’t seem to firing with the audience. I’m a big fan of Julia and would have loved her to perform a big opening number that she said she’s too old for.

No, you’re not Julia! It’s the Logies – we need it.

Ok, it’s 7.30 and the red carpet is just wrapping up… here we go for what will (hopefully) be a great Logies!

Hmmm, can’t say the opener has me revved up. I love Tony Martin but his voiceovers just sound like a piss take.

  1. I was disgusted by the Logies’ tribute to Neighbours. I actually turned it off after that. 37 years, almost 9000 episodes and they can’t put together anything better than that? They can’t even be bothered to bring the current cast on stage or have a couple of them present an award?

What an absolute failure. The organisers should be ashamed of themselves.
